by Yonit Tanenbaum

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — After nineteen long years of taking it one “Amud” at a time, “Zaidy” Wilansky, 78, celebrated the commendable undertaking of learning the entire Shas in depth.

On Sunday afternoon, the Kolel Tiferes Zekenim met in 770 for a Siyum in honor of Reb Yehoshua Wilansky’s completion of the Shas. “This is something that does not happen very often,” said his 23-year-old grandson, Eli Wilansky. The Siyum was dedicated to Wilansky’s mother, Sara bas Yehoshua, whose Yahrtzeit was on the 23rd of Iyar.

Op-Ed: It’s 3AM… Can you outdo negative with positive?

I can’t sleep, I’m tossing and turning, my mind is racing with all sorts of crazy thoughts. I’m frustrated, upset, and my head is beginning to spin.

I am your typical “survivor” or simple guy, one that works hard to cover my basic expenses. I’m young, full of energy and already have a small family. I feel that were ever I live I should help, care, give back and create a better community. (I currently volunteer in two local organizations.)

But recently I began to ask myself WHY?

A World United in Learning, Lezcus Levi Yitzchak ben Tzirel

On behalf of Levi, we would like to thank all those who said Tehillim and gave Tzedakah for him today. Baruch Hashem, Levi’s health is improving and every day he is becoming stronger. His doctors are optimistic. However, we still need to continue saying tehiilim giving, Tzedakah and learning torah in his honor.

To continue the momentum, and to increase his health, there will be a Shiur for Torah on the night of Erev Shavous, Wednesday evening, May 27, at 9:30pm, with Rabbi YY Jacobson, uniting the whole world in learning.
