HATZALAH AMBULANCE VANDALIZED!

Somewhere between 4:00am and 7:00am the Hatzalah Ambulance [CH-3] that is parked in front of 770 had been vandalized. In a despicable act of vandalism both the ambulances mirrors had been torn off its sides, causing damage of over $1,500 a mirror.

People that were dancing in front of 770 until 4:00am confirmed that when they left the mirrors were intact, and no one remembered anyone loitering around 770 that could have been a suspect.

At 7:00am a Hatzalah member that was passing noticed one of the mirrors missing and assumed that it was knocked off by a passing vehicle, but when another member came to the ambulance and saw the other mirror smashed on the floor it was apparent that this was an act of vandalism. The police were called to take a report.

Note: this is not the first time the ambulances had been vandalized, the last time its tires were slashed, Click Here for the full story.

Students mourn Weston boy who died 4 weeks after Israel bombing

Sun Sentenil

Plantation, Florida — Daniel Wultz’s schoolmates planned to wear blue and white bracelets until the Weston teen who was injured in a Tel Aviv bombing last month returned home.

Instead, students at the David Posnack Hebrew Day School cut off the bracelets on Monday during an emotional memorial service, one day after he died in a Tel Aviv hospital. They plan to present the bracelets, which represent the colors of the Israeli flag, to Daniel’s parents before his funeral this afternoon.

“Daniel, you didn’t go alone,” said sophomore Sarah Azizi. “A part of us went with you the day God took you home.”

Children hold their hands out the the havdalah light

Coming from the Rabbi’s pulpit or the weekly editorial, the oft-touted virtues of Jewish unity and ahavat yisrael elicit the predictable yawn. But experienced in real life, they are fresh and affirmative tangibles that take the edge off even unyielding skeptics.

Shluchim – Bochurim Gather for Inspiration

This Shabbos, the holy city of Tsfas was host to 50 of the Rebbe’s Shluchim. As part of the world wide conventions for Talidim HaShluchim, bochurim from the eight Lubavitcher Yeshivas in Israel came together to unite and farbreng.

After weeks of preparation the grand Shabbos finally arrived. This is the first hand report we received:

“Friday we all gathered at the beautiful Campus Yisrael Aryeh Leib – Yeshivas Tzeirei Hashluchim – Tsfas. The program began with a buffet lunch, as Levi Teldon, one of the hosting Shluchim, welcomed everyone and introduced the guest mashpia, Rabbi Gordon of London. Rabbi Gordon focused the crowd as per the goals of this kinus.”

The Power Of Reading a Pa”n & Tehillim On Lag BaOmer.

The Rebbe writes in a letter, “…It is definitely known that the day of Lag B’omer was referred to by the Rashb“i (whose passing is today) as ”the day of his rejoicing“, and it is also know that ”joy breaks all boundaries“, and reading the Pa”n on the day of the rejoicing of the Rashb”i at the resting place of our Nasi, who is the one that reveals the secrets of torah in this generation…”

Like the rebbe writes, that Lag BaOmer is a “Yom Segula” [a day of merit] for reading Pa”nim and saying Tehillim at the Ohel, and in wake of recent tragedies that has recently plagued Anas”h L”A, members of Anash are arranging that the entire Tehillim be read at the Ohel tomorrow, Lag BaOmer, starting at 5:00am. The organizers told CrownHeights.info that they are imploring and inviting everyone to please come and join in this effort.

Burglar Apprehended after Violent Burglary Goes Bad

At 10:00 this morning residents of 1339 Union St. corner of New York Ave. were awakened to the sounds of a woman screaming in the hallway. A 46 year old black male attempted to break into one of the apartments of the 7 family condo building. Upon failing at his break-in attempt the intruder made his way to the next apartment via the Sukah porches on the inside courtyard of the building. Although he finally succeeded at entering an apartment, the building superintendent witnessed this and immediately called 911.

The super proceeded to enter the apartment and was immediately greeted by the 6’4″ burglar who then attacked him. A scuffle ensued all around the apartment, starting in the bedroom, continuing into the hallway, and then the living room where the burglar broke free and made a dash for the porch. Shomrim’s Bike Registration a Major Success

Friday started off murky and rainy but quickly turned into a nice warm and sunny day, enabling the scheduled Bike Registration to go on. The bike registration took place in front of “Everything Automotive” on East New York Ave. together with members of the NYPD’s Community Affairs, Auxiliary and Explorer Units along with the Crown Heights Shomrim Division.

The Bike Registration program is aimed at discouraging bike thefts as well as identifying recovered bikes. The summer is upon us and we know that the children are out on their bikes and the theft rates do go up.

Shomrim took it upon themselves to get as many bikes as possible registered, and the turnout was very good, with over 125 bikes and scooters registered not only by children, but by adults as well. The program included lots of free prizes and raffles, including a bike which was sponsored by the “Bargain Center”, a scooter which was sponsored by “Zakons Toys and Stationary”, and a Helmet Set which was sponsored by “JewishSinger.com”, as well as drinks and other refreshments.

Over 600 kids attended and were met by Shomrim Members, Police Officers and Cadets all of whom volunteered from their time to explain the benefits of registering their bikes along with safety tips for the summer among many other things to the kids. Among the attractions was a Police van that kids were able to sit in and play around with the sirens and speakers as well as the Shomrim Mobile Command Post, all of which added to a great and fun filled event.

The winning numbers for the Raffles are as follows: Bike – Ticket #6642174. Scooter – Ticket# 6642094. Helmet Set – Ticket# 6642150. if you are the holder of a ticket with any of these numbers, please bring it to 419 Kingston Ave. [Between Empire and Montgomery] to claim you prize!

Rainy Night – trees fall and cars crash

In a pouring Thursday night lots of destruction was left in its wake. First a branch of a tree came crashing down on President St. between Albany and Kingston, falling mere inches away from a pedestrian and B”H it missed him. Followed by an even larger part of a tree that came down on Empire Blvd. between Albany and Troy, there were no reports of any pedestrians in the area when that incident took place.

The highlight of the night was at around 3:30am a car went smashing into 2 parked cars on Crown St. between Kingston and Brooklyn. Eyewitnesses state that they saw a car coming down the street when it all of a sudden went spinning out of control striking 2 parked cars, pushing one of them all the way up onto the sidewalk, the driver then got out and upon seeing the damage he caused he got back into his car and fled the scene. But the fleeing driver did leave a piece of identification behind, his front bumper complete with his front license plate!

Lubavitcher Yeshiva Excels in Tanya Be’al Peh Project

Between Yud Shevat and Yud Alef Nisan, all Talmidim of grades 5-8 participated in a Tanya Be’al Peh Project. This project is sponsored by the Yeshiva and The Bas Sheva Mitzvah Campaign.

This year, the Yeshiva saw tremendous participation and Hatzlacha. Over 150 Talmidim participated in this project.

On Thursday, Erev Pesach Sheni, the Yeshiva organized a special Farbrengen for those Talmidim who excelled in Tanya Be’al Peh. Rabbi Mottel Kanelsky, Shliach of the Rebbe in New Jersey, and director of the Bas Sheva Mitzvah Campaign, spoke to the Talmidim. Rabbi Kenelsky praised them for their accomplishment, and motivated them to continue learning Tanya Be’al Peh, urging them to learn all 12 Perakim of Tanya Be’al Peh as a preparation for one’s Bar Mitzvah.

At the end of this Farbrengen each Talmid received a beautiful certificate and a five dollar bill. We are very proud of our Talmidim and wish them continued Hatzlacha.

Chabad Comes to KU

The University Daily Kansan
Chabad @ KU

Those wanting to learn about and practice Judaism have another option at the University of Kansas.

Two weeks ago, Rabbi Zalman Tiechtel, his wife Nechama, and his infant daughter Mina, opened a Chabad Jewish Center in their new home at 1201 W. 19th St.

Chabad offers an opportunity for Jewish students to experience what it’s like in an Orthodox Jewish home — a home that practices all 613 laws of Judaism.

“We like to call ourselves the Google for anything Jewish,” he said.
