In First Post Election Meeting, ‘Achdus Team’ Shows no Achdus

In the first post election meeting members of each side sat down with Rabbi Avrohom Rosenberg in the offices of the Vaad Hakohol to discuss the elections and its outcome. Members of the ‘Achdus Team’, who were the ones to call for the meeting, gave various suggestions from remaining in office throughout the summer, to calling for new elections, and even refusing to work with individual Vaad members.

Osdoba to Gaboim: “You Were Elected Under the Campaign of No More Court”

In a letter dated today, 5th of Tamuz, Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba writes to the newly elected Gaboim reminding them that the reason the community came out with such to vote was under the promise of the end of secular court actions and infighting, and in his letter he urges them to postpone the actions and ultimately withdraw them entirely.

Zaki Tamir Elected, Runoff to Determine 2 More

In a chaotic and tumultuous day, which drew out a record number of voters, the only victor turned out to be Zaki Tamir who is the only candidate to secure over 50% of the vote. An additional 2 are needed to meet the minimum of 3 required to run the Vaad, and there will be a runoff between candidates Shea Hecht, Yossi Hackner and Fishel Brownstein.

Gaboim Election Results

A total of 1932 ballots were confirmed in the elections for Gaboim, and a candidate would require a minimum of 967 to be elected as Gabbai, the winners are Menachem Gerlitzky, Avrohom Holtzberg, and Yosef Losh. Zalman Lipsker made it by with 3 votes and his will be recounted.

‘Old Vaad’ Weighs in on the Current Elections

The members of the ‘old Vaad’, Rabbi Shmuel Plotkin, Moshe Rubashkin, and Dr. Zvi Lang weigh in on the current elections with a very sharp letter that was delivered to homes in the neighborhood. The letter takes issue with a number of important topics on the upcoming elections.

After R. Rosenbergs Letter, Stipulation Signed Immediately

CROWN HEIGHTS — After much bickering over how to withdraw the new Vaad’s Messira from court, Rabbi Avraham Rosenberg put the issue to rest in his most recent ruling. He instructed the Osdoba camp to accept the stipulation as means to end the court action, and they must sign it immediately. A copy of the document was forwarded to CrownHeights.info showing the Osdoba camp immediate compliance with the ruling.

Sperlin and Poltorack Challenged on Grounds of Messira

Once the list of candidates was finalized, residents of the community were given the opportunity to challenge any of the candidates based on a set of criteria’s. Among them, a candidate must be religious and keep torah and mitzvos.

Two challenges were posed against candidates Chanina Sperlin and Eli Poltorak, on the Halachic grounds. Which more specifically cite that they both participated and perpetrated a Messira on Jews which directly resulted in their arrest and prosecution.
