Accident Leaves Car in Apple Drugs Retention Polls

At around 1:20am and loud screech was heard throughout the intersection of Crown and Kingston followed by the definite sound of metal crashing into metal. A black Nissan Maxima which was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed down Crown St collided with a Buick Park Avenue which was going up Kingston Ave allegedly taking the red light according to witnessing bystanders.

A few Hatzalah members that were right around responded and offered to treat the 2 drivers who were both not Jewish, however they had refused medical attention. The Nissan ended up in the poles in front of Apple Drugs, who had them placed there due to an accident a number of years ago when a car went crashing right into the store.

Bochur Struck By A Reversing Car

Yesterday evening a reversing black sedan struck a 13 year old Bochur rollerblading on President St. between Brooklyn and New York avenues. B”H there were no serious injuries and while Hatzalah treated him on the scene, as a precaution they nevertheless took him to Kings County Hospital. NYPD responded to the call as well.

This would be the time to remind children that plan on bike riding or rollerblading in this beautiful weather of the rules that will keep them safe. These should include; that they should get off their bike when crossing streets, look in all directions, hey it’s Brooklyn you may never know when someone will decide to drive a few blocks in reverse, and when rollerblading to wear protective gear (i.e. helmet, etc.). Don’t forget that anyone under 14 riding a bicycle is required by law to wear a helmet.

Accident Followed By a Road rage Incident And An Arrest

Yesterday [Tuesday] at around 4:45 in the afternoon a car service rear ended a pickup truck at the intersections of Eastern Pkwy. and Troy Ave. the car service had 3 passengers, a child and 2 parents, the mother had sustained a head injury while the driver, father and child did not sustain any injuries. Moments before police arrived the father had gotten into an argument with the car service driver and struck him in the head, requiring him to seek medical attention, when the police arrive they had arrested the father for assault.

Later that evening there was another accident on the corner of Eastern Pkwy. and Albany Ave. with no injuries. That brought the total number of accidents yesterday to 3! There were no Jews involved in these two incidents.

Motorcycle Accident on Eastern Parkway

At around 5:55 this afternoon a group of motorcycle riders were seen driving together heading north on New York Ave.. According to eyewitnesses one of the bikers sped up, took a red light crossing Eastern parkway, and rode right under the front wheels of a truck in the service lane.

The biker was thrown up into the air, but was not seriously injured, though the bike was totaled. The truck sustained no damage, and the Jewish driver, who did not even see the biker, said he heard the roar of the bike and stopped only to notice he had the bike under his wheel.

The warm weather is known to bring out these gangs of bikers, some times as many a sixty in a pack, driving recklessly, looking for trouble, and the roaring noise as they drive past . Baby Stroller Struck on the corner of Kingston and Empire

At around 6:30pm a Jewish woman pushing her baby in a stroller was crossing street at the intersections of Kingston Ave. and Empire Blvd. when a car struck the front of the stroller. The stroller broke and the mother and child were visibly shaken by the accident.

Hatzalah responded and treated the child who Boruch Hashem didn’t suffer any major injuries, which was treated on the scene, and did not require any further medical attention. The NYPD responded and filled out a standard accident report.

Flatbush Hatzalah Ambulance In Accident in Boro Park

Flatbush Hatzalah Ambulance F-905 was responding to an emergency Monday night, when crossing the intersection of New Utrecht Ave. and 54th St. an SUV collided with the ambulance.

Reports say that there were minor injuries to the passengers of the SUV and they were transported to a local hospital, none of the injuries was life threatening.

Accident On The Corner Of Montgomery And Albany

At around 8:50 yesterday [Monday] evening 2 cars collided in the center of the intersection of Montgomery St. and Albany Ave. a Minivan coming down Albany Ave. hit an SUV going down Montgomery St., sending the SUV up onto the sidewalk where it struck a parked SUV. Both drivers involved in the accident were Lubavitcher’s, as well as the parked car.

B”H there was no serious injuries, Hatzalah responded and took one of the drivers to Kings County Hospital as a precaution.

Pedestrian Struck By A Reversing Vehicle

On Friday afternoon an elderly Lubavitch woman was struck by a mini van that was reversing the wrong way up a block. This incident took place on Brooklyn Ave. between Empire Blvd. and Sterling St. apparently the driver of the minivan, who is also a Lubavitcher, was backing up Brooklyn Ave. towards Empire and struck the woman injuring her.

Hatzalah responded and took the Elderly Woman to Kings County Hospital with various injuries.

Unfortunately this is not an uncommon occurrence in which drives can be seen backing up down a block ‘to save some time’ in which they are endangering all of their surroundings, this also isn’t the first time where a Lubavitcher was injured form a driver backing up. So Drivers, please take this to heart and please stop this!

Boro Park Hatzalah Ambulance Involved in an Accident

This comes just a week after Crown Heights Hatzalah had an accident, yesterday [Tuesday] at around 2:00pm Hatzalah received a call to respond to a scene of a major accident, this ambulance [B-04] was parked on 15th Ave. and began heading there. When crossing the intersection of 15th & 44th, a car crossing the intersection did not yield to the ambulance, which had all its lights flashing and sirens blaring, and they collided.

The ambulance was just beginning to respond and thank g-d wasn’t going fast yet, still the car sustained heavy damaged, and both passengers were injured, and were reportedly released from a local hospital that night. The driver of the ambulance did not sustain any injury, and the ambulance sustained minor damage.

Hatzalah Ambulance In An Accident

At 4:20am one of the 3 Crown Heights Ambulances (CH3) went out on a call and was headed down Albany Ave. with lights and sirens all on and blaring. When arriving at the intersection of Albany Ave. & Empire Blvd. a Volvo coming from Kingston Ave. being ‘piloted’ by young black male with a young black male passenger at speeds in excess of 70MPH, ran a solid red light and got hit in the front corner with such force that the car spun around striking the Ambulances side with the rear end of the car.

The Ambulance is equipped with a heavy duty front bumper that can withstand extremely heavy impact, and therefore sustained no damage to the front, but the side of the Ambulance, where the rear end of the car hit it, got smashed in. The driver of the Ambulance, who was wearing his seatbelt didn’t sustain any injuries, then got out of the Ambulance to go and help the people in the car.

The 2 occupants of the car who were obviously at fault and knowing so got out of the car and ran, leaving behind the wreckage. It took police 10 minutes to arrive at the scene of the accident.

Bochurim Involved In An Accident On Parkside

Thursday night at approximately 10:45pm 2 Bochurim were on their way back to Crown Heights driving on Parkside Ave., a popular route Crown Heightsers use to get back from Boro Park and Flatbush, when they were crossing the intersection of St. Pauls Pl. a mini van came out and the cars collided. The Bochur that was driving said that the light was still green and the minivan came out suddenly and he had no chance to stop.

A Hatzalah member that happened to have been passing by saw the accident and stopped to help, the Bochurim B”H did not sustain any injuries but the driver of the minivan requested medical attention and was transported by Hatzalah to a local hospital.

Accident On The Corner Of New York & Montgomery

At around 5:40pm this evening [Tuesday] a Lubavitcher woman was driving down Montgomery St. and when crossing the intersection of New York Ave. a car slammed into the side of her car, pushing her up New York Ave a few feet. The other car was being driven by a black woman, apparently she had not paid attention to the red light.

The Lubavitcher woman, who was very shaken up, was transported by Hatzalah to Kings County Hospital just as a precaution, while the other woman didn’t seem to have sustained any injuries and refused medical attention, even though her airbags had deployed.

2 Cars Collide At President & Albany

Tonight [Wednesday] at around 8:10pm 2 cars collided at the intersection of President Street and Albany Ave. one of the cars was being driven by a young Jewish girl from the neighborhood while the other by non-jew who was just over for a visit. Apparently one of the cars had a red light and didn’t notice and took the light, and the 2 cars collided.

The girl, who at first didn’t think she was injured but was seriously shaken up, began to experience chest pain so Hatzalah took her to Maimonides Medical Center, while the other driver didn’t sustain any injuries, Both drivers claim that they had the green light.

Later this evening the girl was released from the hospital and B”H is feeling fine.

Woman struck by pickup truck, in serious condition

Last night at around 3:00AM a couple was crossing the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Church Ave. by the entrance to the Prospect Expressway and the woman, who appeared to have been drunk, all of a sudden ran into the street, a passing pickup truck couldn’t stop due to the wet pavement struck the woman throwing her more the 30 feet into the intersection.

A Flatbush Shomrim member that was passing by saw what had happened and alerted Hatzalah. The woman was knocked unconscious and didn’t appear to have been breathing was rushed to Lutheran Trauma Center with ALS and was listed in serious condition. The husband who himself was not in control of all his senses stayed behind and was shouting at police officers.

The road remained shut for many hours while the Highway A.I.S. (Accident Investigation Section) was investigating this accident, they later impounded the pickup truck as part of their investigation.

Accident on Eastern Parkway

At around 11:20pm today, a sedan rear ended an SUV at a low rate of speed, apparently the driver was following closely and had to break suddenly and due to the wet pavement he couldn’t stop. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and sustained injuries, he was taken by EMS to Kings County Hospital.

The driver of the SUV, a woman, was very shaken up but was not injured, the responding officers had to calm her down.

Now would be the right time to mention how important wearing seat belts are, they save lives, and it’s the law, (you must wear your seat belts when in a running car). And please; drive slower when the roads are wet and keep more distance between yourself and other cars.

8 Year Old Girl Struck By Car

Yesterday [Monday] at approximately 2:30pm, an 8 year old girl was struck by a car at the intersection of Montgomery and Troy. The girl was thrown and injured by the impact and Hatzalah rushed her to KCH. She is B“H in stable condition and will IY”H be OK. The driver did not flee the scene.

In a incident that took place an Chanukah a child was struck at the intersection of Kingston and President, the driver did stop to make sure the child was OK. However soon after the driver left the child started feeling pain and Hatzalah had to take him to the hospital.

The Law is; that no matter what the situation, in an incident where a pedestrian gets struck, the police must be notified and the driver must remain at the scene, even if the person seems to be fine. The affects of an accident may only turn up later and can be severe. Therefore, if you witness an accident involving a pedestrian, please make sure to take down the license plate numbers down, and notify the police immediately.

Hazardous Weather conditions cause accident with Injury

Today [Sunday] at around 1:30pm on the corner on Montgomery and Schenectady there was an accident which resulted in the injury of a yiddisher woman. While driving down Schenectady the woman knocked a parked car, so she stopped to leave a notice with her information, and as she was leaving, another car coming down Schenectady hit her car sending her flying on the icy pavement into another parked car.

The woman was taken to KCH by Hatzalah in stable condition.

Again this would be an appropriate time to warn you all to take extra caution while out on the streets in this weather, for both people on foot and drivers. The sidewalks and roads are very icy.
