On Friday afternoon an elderly Lubavitch woman was struck by a mini van that was reversing the wrong way up a block. This incident took place on Brooklyn Ave. between Empire Blvd. and Sterling St. apparently the driver of the minivan, who is also a Lubavitcher, was backing up Brooklyn Ave. towards Empire and struck the woman injuring her.

Hatzalah responded and took the Elderly Woman to Kings County Hospital with various injuries.

Unfortunately this is not an uncommon occurrence in which drives can be seen backing up down a block ‘to save some time’ in which they are endangering all of their surroundings, this also isn’t the first time where a Lubavitcher was injured form a driver backing up. So Drivers, please take this to heart and please stop this!

With all the commotion over ticketing Lubavitch drivers for failing to use seat belts and for using cell phones while driving, it might make sense for some driver re-education programs. Let’s face it, Lubavitchers are often awful drivers. It’s like Lubavitch Time, always late, Lubavitch driving, often sloppy!

"PEDESTRIANS MUST LOOK BOTH WAYS WHEN CROSSING THE STREET."
That is true, but the pedestrian ALWAYS has the right of way, even when he doesn’t

There were many incidents of people being severely injured by drivers backing up at inappropriate speeds, it is illegal. I am a driver, but sometimes can’t believe how quickly drivers back up, without looking CAREFULLY. or fly out of driveways, assuming nobody is on the street

We have enough tzoros, drivers, take the extra minute, slow down, and LOOK!!

when things like this happen we shouldnt just stand around doing nothing. we should all try and do something about this. first of all, the driving in crown heights to begin with is horrendous! first we should improve our driving before we go improve someone elses!

You all sound like a bunch of old women!! Driving in CH is no worse then anywhere else. Go check out Boro Park & Manhattan. Accidents happen every day at the fault of both drivers and pedestrians. Of course everyone knows that they can be a little more careful when crossing a street or driving/reversing and even after a terrible accident or Rachmona Leslan a tragedy, we all vow to improve, but soon it is forgotten – not intentionally – and we go back to our old ways. Such is life!!
