Shomrim Apprehend Car Thief!

Amazing response and alert Shomrim members stop the new car thief dead in his tracks. A veteran member driving down Brooklyn Ave. at around 9:15pm spotted a male Black who seemed very suspicious and was hanging around a parked Minivan on the corner of Carroll St. He called for backup and some 20 members responded and spread out in order to be able to catch the perp in case he runs.

2 members made sure to keep an eye on the perp who was waiting around for the coast to clear when he made his move and punched in the window which made an audible pop but muffled. Members then proceeded in and surrounded the perp who attempted to flee the scene but the members restrained and held him until police arrived, which was moments after the call placed by Shomrim.

The Weekly Sedra – Parshas Toldos

The Rebbe says:

1. The first verse in this weeks Parshah says “V’Eyleh toldos Yitzchok ben Avraham, Avraham holid es Yitzchak – And these are the children of Yitzchak the son of Avraham, Avraham was the father of Yitzchak”.

2. Q: The question that begs to be asked here is obvious: Why does the verse say that Avraham was the father of Yitzchak after it already told us that Yitzchak was the son of Avraham?!?

3. Answer number 1: Rashi tells us that although the verse already mentioned that Yitzchak was the son of Avraham it still found it necessary to stress that Avraham fathered Yitzchak to tell us something: There were cynics of that generation saying “Avraham is not the father of Yitzchak, really Avimelech the king of the Plishtim is the father. Look, for many years Avraham and Sarah were married and Sarah did not give birth, only now after Sarah was with Avimelech in his palace did she give birth”. Hashems response to this was that He made Yitzchaks facial features exactly like Avrahams and therefore everyone saw without a doubt that Avraham Avinu was really Yitzchaks father. Therefore the verse says “Avraham fathered Yitzchak” to tell us that there was clear evidence that really Avraham Avinu was Yitzchaks father.

The NYPD has installed a patrol tower in a Harlem neighborhood in an effort to cut crime in the high-risk neighborhood.

The two-story booth tower, called Sky Watch, gives the officer sitting inside a better vantage point from which to monitor the area. Officers in the booth have access to a spotlight, sensors, and four cameras. The tower is portable and can be moved to the areas that need it most.

International Chabad conference comes to NJ

Seth Mandel – The Jewish State
Rabbi Eliezer Zaklikovsky, director of Chabad Jewish Center of Monroe, with Solomon Beck of Monroe, at last year’s conference.

While curious youngsters often try to sneak into places for which they are not quite old enough, the global Chabad community’s annual conference is usually not one of them.

But for Rabbi Eliezer Zaklikovsky, the conference’s culminating banquet was where he wanted to be.

“Growing up as the son of a Chabad rabbi in Detroit, I always tried to squeeze my way into the banquets, because it was such an unbelievable experience,” Zaklikovsky, who is now the rabbi of the Chabad Jewish Center of Monroe Township, said.

Friendship Circle purchases Workmen’s Circle

Workmen’s Circle building on S.
Green Road will soon be Friendship
Circle’s home.

The soon-to-be-completed $300,000 sale of the Workmen’s Circle building on Green Road in South Euclid to the Chabad House of Cleveland’s Friendship Circle promises to be a square deal for both parties.

“Our philosophies regarding children are very similar,” says Friendship Circle director Rabbi Yossi Marozov (Orthodox). “Both organizations (one religious, one cultural) are interested in preserving Jewish values and strengthening children’s connection to Judaism.”

An article in the Nov. 11 Plain Dealer quoted a retired Seton Hall University professor as saying the business deal with Chabad’s Friendship Circle “sounds like Workmen’s Circle made a pact with the enemy,” a statement Marozov strongly refutes.
