It was last year on this day, the 30th of Shvat, February 28th 2006, when R. Efraim Klein HY”D was murdered in cold blood on the streets of Crown Heights. He had gone out in order to move his minivan to avoid having to move it later for alternate side parking regulations the next day. He was 47 years old.
He was shot through the window of his car, and was later pronounced in Kings County Hospital. His son was set to have his wedding the following week. The investigation by the NYPD has ‘gone cold’ according to a source in Crown Heights’s 71st Pct.

“It looked very bad. It was five feet tall and cumbersome to use,” Taub, now 25, recalled.
Today, the Brooklyn rabbinical student makes 30-inch puppets that are featured in a video program he produces for www.chabad.org, the Web site of the international Chabad Lubavitch Movement headquartered in Brooklyn's Crown Heights section.

New Project: Afternoon School For Tzeirei Hashluchim
Once there was no educational option for shluchim’s children other than home schooling. With today’s technological revolution, however, the Shluchim Office operates an online school for kids on shlichus the world over—and in time for the Kinus, the Shluchim Office is adding a new “Chassidishe afternoon school” just for young shluchim attending non-Chabad Jewish schools.
On the heels of its Online School’s tremendous success, the Shluchim Office is launching a new project: An afternoon school with curriculum specifically designed for shluchim’s children studying at their local Jewish school but not getting sufficient Chassidishe education.
It’s not just the patient who feels isolated and frustrated, as Devora Hosseinof of Teaneck discovered when her 15-month-old daughter, who had salmonella poisoning, was admitted to Englewood Hospital erev Pesach last year.
The holiday began on Friday night, forcing a worst-case scenario for the Orthodox mother — who spent three days and nights sleeping on a chair in her daughter’s room. Her husband, Josh, had stayed home with the other children, and people at the local synagogue couldn’t know she was right across the street because there was no way to let them know — she had no appropriate food for Pesach and limited access to a kosher pantry.
