The Shofar Campaign was introduced by the Rebbe—Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory—in 1953. In the decades since Chabad emissaries and countless volunteers have brought the call of the shofar to street corners, public parks, hospitals, prisons and military bases. Since the beginning of Jewish history, the symbol of the High Holidays has been the shofar, the ancient curved instrument used to inaugurate the Jewish New Year. When Covid created unprecedented obstacles to synagogue attendance, many around the world were still able to hear the shofar’s hallowed cries thanks to a decades-old Chabad-Lubavitch innovation: bringing shofar to the streets.

Obituary: Mrs. Devorah Greenberg, 85, Descendants Lead 50 Chabad Centers
Mrs. Devorah Greenberg, the beloved matriarch of a large Chabad family—many of her 17 children and dozens of grandchildren lead more than 50 Chabad-Lubavitch centers around the world—passed away in Bnei Brak, Israel, on the 21st of Av, 5783 (Aug. 8, 2023). She was 85 years old.

17 Years Later, Mazal Barbas Looks Back on Chabad of Poland’s Impact on Her Family
Mazal Barbaś was born into a Jewish family but growing up during the post-Holocaust communist era her family was scared to tell her about it. In 2006, she first crossed the threshold of Chabad of Poland’s burgeoning Jewish community center and fell into the warm embrace of the newly minted Lubavitch emissaries Rabbi Shalom Ber and Rebbetzin Dina Stambler.
