Chabad Expands Focus on Jewish Adult Education Services

Following a recent initiative to expand the adult education services offered by Chabad-Lubavitch centers nationwide and abroad, Lubavitch Headquarters disclosed today through Lubavitch.com the names of 20 additional cities that have been approved for the program, for a total of 43 participating cities.

The Levaya will take place Tomorrow, Sunday and will be leaving from the Shomrei Hadaas Chapel at around 10:15am and will be passing by 770 at around 10:45am

Gunshots on Crown and Brooklyn, Shabbos Afternoon

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — Blood and spent bullets were seen scattered around at the intersection of Crown and Brooklyn this Shabbos afternoon.

According to eye witnesses two cars pulled up to the intersection where shouting and yelling was exchanged between the occupants of the two vehicles followed by gun shots.

The incident took place at around 1:00 in the afternoon where witnesses described a white van and a red sedan pulling alongside each other and exchange some shouting and two gun shots rang out.

Mass Bar and Bat Mitzva for Russia’s Northern Capital

S Peterburg, Russia — The entire Jewish community of S.Petersburg joined together in celebrating a joint Bar and Bat Mitzva ceremony, signifying the coming of age for numerous Jewish children from Russia’s northern capital. In accordance with Jewish tradition, this momentous event occurs for girls at the age of 12 years, while boys undergo this important ritual at 13.

This festivity represents the culmination of another year of activity under the city-wide ‘Bar/ Bat Mitzva’ project, sponsored and operated by the ‘Beit Chabad’ Community Center in S.Petersburg under the leadership of Rabbi Tzvi Pinski

Ft. Lauderdale, FL — A crane collapsed by Galt Ocean Drive in Ft. Lauderdale Saturday morning, crashing onto some power lines and damaging part of a synagogue.

The Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale lost power due to the crane tipping over and snapping an electrical line providing power to the temple and other parts of the area.

Chabad Raises Over $40,000 for Local Israelis

There’s an old adage that says if you’re going to host an event you should always “leave ’em laughing.”

And on May 17, at the fourth annual Spirit of Community Dinner, a fundraising awards gala hosted by the Beth Chabad Israeli Community Centre to benefit the growing Israeli community in the GTA, that’s exactly what what they did.
