Chabad Centers Near IDF Bases Provide Lifelines for Soldiers Headed to War

More than 360,000 IDF reservists have reported to duty in what was the fastest and largest call-up in Israel’s history. Many of these young men and women came straight from their synagogues, where they were celebrating Simchat Torah, or from the homes of family members or hotels where they were spending the Sukkot holiday. Some flew in from abroad. But few had the time to adequately pack supplies, never mind shop for specialty items they’d need on the frontlines.

Israel Calls Up 360,000 Reservists Ahead of Massive Battle

As the scope of atrocities carried out by Hamas terrorists continued to come to light from security footage and by media invited by the Israel Defense Forces to observe the scene on the ground, Israel’s security cabinet approved the call-up of a further 360,000 reservists on Tuesday, doubling the number currently deployed in preparation for an unprecedented battle aimed to deal a fatal blow to Hamas.

As reservists, grieving families, and others flocked to board the only ElAl flight from MIA to Tel Aviv Monday, Local News 10 arrived at the terminal to interview those traveling. There they found a Chabad Rabbi, Rabbi Levi Kurinsky from ChabadAir who was helping them put on Tefillin and connect to their Jewish roots.
