After Chatzos (midday), only things that are permissible to learn on Tisha B’Av should be studied, such as Iyov, Yirmiyahu’s prophecies about the destruction, and Midrash Eicha.

Learning the daily portions of Chitas: Primarily before midday, but may be done until Shkiyah (sunset) if that was not possible.

Learning Rambam: Only before midday (catching up may only be done on Motza’ei Tisha B’Av).
Studying the Laws of the Beis Hamikdosh: As Chitas above.

During Mincha, Tachanun is not recited. [1]

Siyum HaRambam in Morristown

Morristown, NJ — This year the Rambam cycle ended for the 25th time, on Thursday, July 17, Chof Vov Tammuz.

At the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey, it was celebrated with great success. Over 150 students from Tomchei Temimim, Tiferes Bachurim and Yeshivas Kayitz attended, as well as dozens of community members, all gathered in the yeshiva’s auditorium for the grand celebration.

Students Graduate JLI Courses at Lauder Business School in Vienna

Vienna, Austria — Over 80 Students from Austria, Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria and other countries recently completed the JLI track at the Jewish Leadership Program at the Lauder Business School in Vienna, Austria. For most, this was their first Jewish learning experience.

Fire Destroys Families Apartment

Crown Heights, Brooklyn — At around 1:40pm today, Sunday, a fire ripped through an apartment of family who barely escaped the flames. The incident happened at 770 Lefferts Avenue, a large and relatively new building complex which houses close to 60 families.

Over the course of the 9 days, where it is customary to increase in learning, R. Shaya Smetana founder of Anash.com had been working tirelessly in producing live Shiurim which were broadcasted over the internet in order to fulfill this custom.

One of the very unique broadcasts was a virtual tour of the second Bais Hamikdash. Produced and narrated by R. Chaim Shmuel Freidman, this broadcast is going to be available for viewing until the 9th of Av [due to copyright agreements].

New Chabad Houses Will Double its Oregon Operations

Portland, OR — As the Portland, Ore., metropolis expands, Chabad-Lubavitch is coordinating its own rapid growth in the city, currently the Pacific Northwest’s most populous locale. By the end of the summer, Chabad operations in the Beaver State will double.

Workers filled a trash container with soaked carpet, floor boards and office furniture Thursday at Congregation Beth Sholom Chabad in Mineola.

Rabbi Anchelle Perl tried to save what he could, but the water had been a relentless invader at the Willis Avenue temple.

“It came up through the sump pump in the boiler room,” said Perl, a 53-year-old Long Beach resident.

Like many Long Islanders, Thursday was about surveying damage and mounting a cleanup after drenching rain pummeled the island a day earlier.

Talmidim Hashluchim in Sydney Australia Tested on Taaruvos

After much effort all year the Talmidim Hashluchim in Sydney Australia had the honor of being tested by Rabbi Yitzchok Yehudah Yeruslavsky secretary of the Chabad Rabbinical Court in Israel. B”H the Bochurim all did very well on their tests on the laws of Taaruvos.

8th Day’s New Album – Brooklyn

The 8th Day’s new album titled “Brooklyn” is set to hit stores right after the three weeks. The 8th Day (led by Harav Hashliach Shmuel Marcus and his brother Benny) will be promoting the new album in S. Diego (Aug. 15) and at the Macaabi games in California (Aug 16) and in NYC (Aug 28th).

Baruch Dayan Hoemes – R. Binyomin Ezriel Nadoff OBM

With sadness we inform you of the untimely passing of HaRav Binyomin Ezriel Nadoff Ben Harav Sholom Chaim of Pittsburgh PA.

He was a Mechanach For over 50 years in the Hebrew Day School in Pittsburgh, as well as Being The Mohel of Pittsburgh Which Through he brought thousands of people Tachas Kanfei Hashcinah through Bris Milah.

He is Survived by his children: Aliza Zarchi (Crown Heights), Chanina Nadoff (Monsey, NY), Naomi Chinn (Toronto, Canada), Shifra Feigelstock (Vancouver, Canada), Dovid Nadoff (Pittsburgh, PA), Yehuda Nadoff (Chicago, IL), Yisroel Nadoff (Twin Rivers, NJ), Gedalyah Hymn (Pittsburgh , PA) and by many grandchildren and great grandchildren k”ah.

The Aron will be at the Shomer Hachomos chapel in Brooklyn on Ft Hamilton and 43rd street on Sunday [Today] at 10:30 AM and will leave from there to Eretz Yisroel.
