ATLANTA, GA — As the Israeli government launches a dynamic campaign to lure expatriates back, many are conflicted as to which country they wish to call home. With a goal of 10,000 returnees by Israel’s 60th anniversary this May, and double that each year hence, Israel is tempting its wayward citizens with tax breaks, loans, and job offers.

Globetrotting Senator Tells of Worldwide Organization

By Joseph Lieberman

A student from the preschool operated by
Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Boynton
Beach, FL, presents a charity box to
Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman.

Editor’s Note: This article is based on a speech Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) gave at Chabad-Lubavitch of Greater Boynton Beach in Florida back in January. The four-term senator, who received a charity box from the congregation, told the more than 300 people gathered in the sanctuary about guidance he received from the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory.

We are an extraordinarily lucky generation of Jews, and a particularly blessed generation of Jewish Americans. We live in this country that has given us more opportunity, freedom, respect and success than anywhere in the six millennia of Jewish history outside the State of Israel. And we live at a time when the state of Israel is reborn; it’s quite a remarkable and fortunate time to be alive.

Convicted Rapist Attempted to Break into an Apartment

Kosher in the Calley? Let’s Go

Steve Koecher – Salte Lake City Tribune

Kosher on the Go is a family operated enterprise for Israel and Miryam Lefler. The deli, catering business and grocery is a sideline, though, and doesn’t support the family. That’s OK with Israel Lefler, who says he views Kosher on the Go as a service to the Jewish community. (Paul Fraughton/The Salt Lake Tribune )

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — For many years visitors to the Salt Lake area had no options for a Kosher meal. This made it difficult if not impossible for some skiers and businessmen to visit the area.

To help remedy the situation, Israel Lefler started a restaurant called Kosher on the Go, located at 1575 S. 1100 East in Salt Lake City. It prepares Kosher meals to hungry visitors to the Salt Lake area. It is under the supervision of the Chabad of Utah, which certifies the food as Kosher.

Purim Farbrengen 5728

A Farbrengen with the Rebbe in 1968

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — As part of its Living Archive Restoration and Preservation Project, Jewish Educational Media has restored the Farbrengen of Purim, 5728 – 1968.

Based on the results of the audio restoration, the future bodes well for the Living Archive’s audio restoration initiative, which plans for the future enhancement and re-release of many recordings which were available to-date, in very poor-quality versions. According to Mendel Gourarie, The Living Archive’s archivist, “A comparison of the previously-available version and the new version shows what can be achieved through meticulous work and the application of modern technology.”

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida’s House and Senate returned for their regular sessions last Tuesday, March 4, 2008, but with one change: the office doors of House Majority Leader Adam Hasner and House Minority Leader Dan Gelber, both Jewish, were fitted with mezuzos, the Torah-mandated traditional scrolls containing verses of sacred text penned on parchment scrolls.
