The Weekly Sedra – Parshas Korach

The Rebbe says:

1. In this week’s Torah portion Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses our teacher) and Aharon Hakohen (Aaron the High Priest) plead with Hashem not to destroy Korach’s entire congregation; rather, Hashem should just destroy Korach because he was the one who incited and convinced everyone to rebel against Moshe Rabbeinu.

The Torah reads, “Hashem spoke to Moshe and Aharon, saying: ‘Separate yourselves from among this congregation and I will annihilate them in an instant’. They (Moshe and Aharon) fell upon their faces and they said, ‘Almighty, the G-d of the spirits of all flesh; if one man sins shall you be angry with the entire congregation?’”

Shorelines

Rabbi Nochum Kurinsky and his wife, Leah, recently bought their neighbor’s home.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL — In the tumultuous real estate market, it’s still possible for people to sell their homes – especially if their next-door neighbors are interested in buying.

Such is the case with Ponte Vedra Beach resident Nochum Kurinsky and his former neighbor, Curtis Long. Kurinsky bought Long’s home last fall. The two men said they are both happy with the deal and are glad things worked out as they did.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Following yesterday’s report of the departure of Deputy Inspector Frank Vega, CrownHeights.info has just learned that the incoming Commanding Officer is Captain Peter Simonetti of the 72nd Precinct, which oversees the Sun Set Park area of Brooklyn.

Captain Simonetti a has long history with policing in the borough of Brooklyn, starting with his uncle, Tosano “Tony” Simonetti who was the Brooklyn South Commanding Officer, the position which is now held by Chief Jospeh Fox, and quickly worked his way up the ranks all the way to the ‘number 2’ position in the NYPD, the First Deputy Police Commissioner, which he retired from in 1997 to take a lucrative security position with billionaire Ronald Perelman.

Like his uncle, Captain Simonetti shares the same tough attitude and strong approach to the job.
