Mazal Tov! – Its A Boy!
We would like to wish Mazal Tov to Yossi and Naomi (Nee Goldstein) Winner (Shluchim to Tucson, AZ) on the birth of their son.
May the newborn be a source of Nachas to his parents, grandparents, relatives and Klal Yisroel
Perhaps the most telling story I've heard about Chabad emissaries is that some will buy burial plots once they arrive at their distant outposts: It is a gesture to the community — and perhaps also to themselves — that they have come to stay.
I first discovered this Hasidic movement, which has captured the world's attention since the killing of several of its members in Mumbai, after 9/11. The world no longer felt safe and in the months after the attack, my husband and I would flee to the Hamptons, driving every weekend to the East End of Long Island, long after the glamorous summer crowds had gone.

NEW YORK, NY [AP] — Holiday shoppers are being treated to a trip back in time as New York City's transit agency runs a subway train featuring vintage cars.
The Nostalgia Train's cars operated from the 1930s to the 1970s. Ceiling fans, padded seats and incandescent light bulbs were considered state of the art back then.
The train operates on the V line between Queens and lower Manhattan. It runs on Sundays until the end of the year.

The following is a monumental Opinion Editorial that was published in this weeks Yated Neeman by its editor Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz about Achdus and Unity. Two weeks ago, 4,200 Chabad shluchim gathered in New York to celebrate their accomplishments and dedication. This week, no one is celebrating. But they are more united than ever before. After the atrocities in India, all of us are more united.
Today, the shluchim sit in their outposts around the world and mourn the loss of a couple who gave their lives al kiddush Hashem. All disputes between brothers are brushed aside as Jews everywhere join in mourning the senseless slaughter of beloved, exemplary Jews.
Lubavitch, Toldos Avrohom Yitzchok, Bobov and Volover chassidim, along with Mexican and Indian Jews, and unaffiliated Israeli Jews. Jews of all stripes are mourning as one.

Op-Ed: Mumbai: Deadly Media Euphemisms
The international media have already morphed the horrific slaughter in Mumbai into the murky realm of euphemism and apologetics.
Al Jazeera and The Guardian label the terrorists “gunmen”; CNN calls them “militants.” Some analysts identified the underlying cause as the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan. Psychological guru Deepak Chopra called it the result of “collateral damage” from the US war on terrorism and the Iraq war.
