Marriage Unites Campus Centers from Across America

By Chanee Grossbaum for Chabad.edu

Reuven Kasten and Tziporah Hoffman’s wedding took place outside of Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn, N.Y.

BROOKLYN, NY — The wedding of Reuven Kasten and Tziporah Hoffman looked, at first glance, like a typical wedding of two Chabad-Lubavitch Chasidim. Standing beneath a wedding canopy in the pouring ran outside of Lubavitch World Headquarters in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, N.Y., the bearded groom wore a hat, while the bride was bedecked in a flowing white gown and intricate veil.

Chabad Makes Judaism Accessible

WESTBORO, MA — Chabad of Westboro is part of an international Jewish outreach organization.

“We try to make Judaism accessible to everyone. We have a whole different idea about Judaism than your average temple. Sometimes temples are trying to gather funds, and money has to be given. We just want Jews to feel welcome and comfortable wherever they’re at, in a nonjudgmental atmosphere,” said Dvora Green, who, with her husband, Rabbi Michoel Green, started the Westboro Chabad six years ago. The group invites people to come and share a Jewish experience and get involved, she said.

Statement from Aguch and Merkos followed Court Victory

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — In a statement late Friday afternoon Aguch and Merkos welcomed the news of the appeals court rejecting the appeal from Cong. Lubavitch, Inc. In the statement they accused CLI of ‘injecting themselves’ into the proceedings and Donald Kravet, an attorney for Merkos is “looking forward to the implementation of the Courts’ rulings” in the transferring control of 770 from CLI to Aguch and Merkos.

Beshalach: Who Is Your Moshe? – The Vital Role of the “Rebbe” in Jewish Observance

by Rabbi Yoseph Kahanov Shliach to Jacksonville, FL

“They believed in G-d and in Moshe His servant” (Exodus 14:31)

Is Judaism a static or living, “breathing,” religion? To better explain the question: Has G-d, according to Jewish faith, revealed and communicated all the knowledge and guidance intended for man, albeit with eternal relevance, in some prior historic form and era, or does He continue to communicate and guide his people in “real time”?

This discussion may be larger than the scope of this essay and require further study. This of course, is highly encouraged. As for our conversation, the answer to the question is yes and no. How is that for rabbinical verdict?

What is meant by this, though, is that on some level everything has already been transmitted within the confines of the written and oral Torah. Still, on another level, as is evident from our Parsha, Divine guidance is as real and prevalent today as it has ever been. Let us explore this intriguing phenomenon.

BREAKING: Gabboims Appeal against Aguch and Merkos is Denied

BROOKLYN, NY [CHI] — Earlier today four judges of Second Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York ruled in favor of Agudas Chasidei Chabad and Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, Inc. following Congregation Chabad Lubavitch’s (Gaboim) appeal.

This ruling grants complete and total control to Aguch and Merkos over the premises of 770 and 784-788 Eastern Parkway, and the Gaboim have no claim. This ruling affirms the 2007 ruling of Judge Ira B. Harkavy, as we have reported.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

by Getzy Markowitz – Jewish Though in Simple Words

When initiating a conversation, current events are always a good icebreaker. But this morning, one of the stories that my friend and I discussed was a heartbreaker.

For nearly three months, Mr. Sholom M. Rubashkin, a fellow Jew and a sweetheart of a man, was imprisoned. Denied bail, it was his bond with G-d and faith that sustained him. As Mr. Rubashkin is an observant Jew and a sensitive soul, the trials that he endured leave one with an uneasy feeling of guilt. Accused, but far from convicted, Sholom was incarcerated as if he had committed crimes against humanity. Reading the reports of clergy who visited him through a plexiglass window, one wonders how our government could punish a man only accused of white-collar, with a choke collar.
