Once Again CrownHeights.info Readers Prevail!

Thanks to you the Friendship Circle of Sharon, Massachusetts which is under Chabd of Sharon directed by Rabbi Chaim and Sara Wolosow have won the competition awarding them a sizeable donation of $25,000.00.

This is the second time in a half a year that the readers of CrownHeights.info have turned a competition around for a Chabad organization. The last time was when readers gathered together to help Leah Larson, publisher and editor of Yalda Magazine win a $100,000.00 prize from Wells Fargo Bank.

The competition Chabad of Sharon won was sponsored by Virgin America Airlines under the title “What’s Your Revolution?” in which they awarded the prize to a Massachusetts based organization who had received the most amount of votes, in this case the Sharon chapter of Friendship Circle, who came in ahead by nearly 1000 votes!

Thank you CrownHeights.info readers!

  • Hate to be the one to burst your bubble,

    But….

This was also advertised on Shmais and theyeshivaworld, so it wasn’t ch.info singlehanded. But good work anyhow!

special thanks to Mrs. Teichtel and the girls of BRHS who took their precious precious time on Erev Shabbos to enlist as many names as possible, making it go up by 1,500 votes in ONE day!!

  • MQP131

the real thanks goes to the shliach, who over yud shvat went around giving people form to fill up their names and all info need so they can join the contest.

  • Mazel Tov!

Congratulations! That’s great news!!! Chassidim Ein Mishpacha so everyone’s a winner! Moshiach Now!

  • Very proud Mother

Thank You Mrs. Tiechtel for giving the girls school time to put in names. The students learned a very special message about the importance of Shlichus and helping another Jew.

  • .....

That’s not true. The contest rules are that the 3 organizations with the most votes then get entered into a drawing and a winner is picked. So as of now, there is no winner. I don’t know where you got your information from. I think they announce the winner on Feb 11, but I’m not sure. Next time, make sure you get your information right before you get everyone excited.

Thanks to all the bochurim that collected hundreds of names in 770/BR and all the farbrengens over yud shvat!

  • chabadlover!!

only in chabad can such a thing be accomplished in such a short time!!! I LOVE CHABAD!!

  • Not a chicken counter...

    Two points.

First, to the author of crownheights.info article: I would suggest that the use of the term “prevail” is inappropriate. The two other high vote getters, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts and the SPARK Center are both meritorious causes. We recently read how when we left Mitzrayim, we did not gloat over the Egyptians, surely we should take care to cause no ill will here.

Second, Friendship Circle has not YET won, they have only garnered the most votes in the UNOFFICIAL tally. If you read the rules of the contest carefully, you will see that the contest is open ONLY to residents of Massachusetts, so insofar as folks from, say, New Jersey, have voted, it is reasonable to believe your vote would be discarded.

Don’t misunderstand me — I’d be thrilled to see Chabad of Sharon receive $25,000, it’s just a little premature to declare them the de facto recipient.

Go Lubavitchers! When I voted four days ago, they were behind by 800 points and all of your support brought them to the lead. I am proud of our community and the knowledge that we are a group that will back our words with actions when we need each other, even if it is members of our group that we have no direct interaction with or relation to.
