Gold had recently finished serving a prison sentence and wanted a place to pray. The Chabad Ft. Lauderdale community accepted him quickly.
GOSHEN, NY — MilMar Food Group LLC in Goshen, a maker of frozen foods, has announced it is closing its plant, according to a notice filed with the state Department of Labor.
This affects 177 employees at the business, the notice said. The reason cited is “economic,” and the notice said the closing occurred March 26.

SYDNEY, Australia — A Sydney rabbi took the “extraordinary” step of asking a civil court to rule that Jewish law should govern his employment contract because he is a senior judge of Sydney’s Jewish tribunal that might have otherwise heard the dispute.
From the Safer Haminhagim: [Every day from Rosh Chodesh Nissan until the twelfth of the month, usually after Shacharis,] one reads the passage [from Bamidbar 7-8:4] that describes the offering brought on that day by a particular Nasi, or tribal prince, for the dedication of the altar of the Mishkan. [In common parlance, each day’s passage itself is often referred to as “the Nasi.”] This daily reading is followed by the prayer which opens with the words yehi ratzon (and which appears in Siddur Torah Or [as well as in Siddur Tehillat HaShem, p. 371]). This prayer is recited even by a Kohen or a Levi [despite its seeming relevance only to tribes other than the Tribe of Levi]. [284]

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — No barns were raised when Hasidic Jews and the Amish joined together on the streets of Brooklyn yesterday, but eyebrows sure were.
The 25-strong Amish contingent made the trip by yellow school bus from Lancaster, Pa., to Crown Heights for a second annual guided tour of the life and culture of the Lubavitcher sect.

Shmuli Shapiro and David Kahanov both bochurim from Crown Heights went to Boca Raton, FL and set up Model Matzah Bakeries in every Jewsh School and Hebrew School in the city. Over 1500 Children made their own matza and learned all about pesach they had a great time. The day of unity and pride brought together high school students from 23 public high schools across southern California. The highlight of the event was an 8th day Jewish Rock concert. Sapir Ohayon (pictured), a 12th grader from Los Al Hebrew High, walked away with VIP tickets to the Clippers vs. Hornets game on April 1st with Chris Paul. CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — At around 6:45pm today, Tuesday a cyclist riding down Albany Ave was stuck by a car, between Crown and Montgomery St. The cyclist, a black man, went flying off his bike and sustained minor injuries. He was treated on the scene and later transported by FDNY EMS to a local hospital. The driver of the car, a Jewish man, was visibly shaken up.
Rabbi Abba Brenenson from Kfar Chabad (a brother of YBLA Rabbi Reuven Brenenson AH from Crown Heights) is sitting Shiva for his father AH at his sister’s home in The Greens in Melville, Long Island.
