In honor of Yud Tes Kislev over 500 Yaldei Hashluchim actively participated in an international Yud Tes Kislev Hachana organized by CYH – a division of the Shluchim office.
Yaldei Hashluchim of all ages memorized Tanya in preparation for the Yom Tov and called in to record it on our Super Phone. They were rewarded with points to be redeemed for prizes. It was a smashing success!

The hall closet still has a box of mothballs sitting on the shelf directly over the coatrack. As a result, it still harbors this pungent but otherwise sartorially healthy scent that tells you that the clothes in here are well protected. This is the hallway closet in my mother’s house in Crown Heights in Brooklyn. I’m there often—though not often enough—usually to pick my mom up before Shabbos or drive her back home after Shabbos, but rarely, if ever, am I there to spend a Shabbos there myself these days.

A seasoned businessman, who for many years earned his living in the lumber industry, was getting on in age. He decided to turn his business over to his sons who were more than happy to step in.
Having little experience in this field, the novices were careful to consult their elderly father before every major decision. The father was eager to share his lifelong knowledge and expertise in this profession.
An opportunity had one day arisen for the brothers to procure 1,000 trees in a forest at what seemed like a very fair price. As usual, they sought the skilled guidance of their retired father. After listening to the proposal, the father inquired about three aspects before offering his advice:

WHISTLER, BC, Canada — Anonymous flyers left in both Pique and Whistler Question newsstands Dec. 31 are demanding that a “hate group” be forced out of Whistler.
The flyers are adorned with the headline “HATE GROUP OUT OF WHISTLER NOW” and carry a quote from Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, the deceased leader of Chabad-Lubavitch, a Hasidic Jewish organization that began in the 18th century. Schneerson died in 1994.

1. In this week’s Torah portion Yakov Avinu (Jacob our forefather) blesses each one of his twelve children.
When Yakov Avinu blesses his son Asher he says, “From Asher- his bread is rich, he will provide kingly delicacies”.
Rashi (an acronym for Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki) explains this blessing and says: “The food which comes from the land that Asher received as an inheritance is rich and fat because there are many olives in his portion which give oil like a spring. As we see, Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses our teacher) also blessed Asher by saying, ‘And he will (even be able to) dip his feet in oil’”.

Chabad Teen Club Light Up the Poconos
STROUDSBURG, PA — Sixty teens from the Brighton Beach area spent part of their winter vacation snow tubing in the Poconos mountains. The public school teens belong to the Chabad-Neshama Teen Club, who organized the trip offering the teens an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season in a totally Jewish atmosphere.
