Bereaved Father: “The Purim Visits Really Raise Our Spirits”

By Sharon Goshen for the Israel Home Front

“The visits from Chabad volunteers over Purim and throughout the year really raise our spirits,” said David Emmett, a bereaved father from Beit Shean. Mr. Emmett’s son, Capt. Boaz Emmett, Hy”d, was killed in a terror attack at the Erez checkpoint. “You are a ray of light in these difficult days,” he says. Rachel Ochana, mother of Shimon Ochana, who was mortally wounded by snipers from Beit Jala, agrees. “Don’t stay home,” she says. “If you have the chance and the time to go and visit some families, please don’t hesitate.”

The director of the Tzeirei Chabad and Agudas Chassidei Chabad Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Ahronov reports that, “At the same time, low-income families have been invited to Purim meals at the homes of Chabad Youth Organization volunteers and take an active part in the festival joy.”

Chabad Takes Initiative Forming Security Commission

The following letter has been sent to all Shluchim of the Rebbe worldwide:

Dear Shluchim שיחיו!

In light of recent events Shluchim the world over have been focusing more attention on matters of security.

In order to guide and assist Shluchim and Mosdos in this regard, we have formed the Chabad-Lubavitch Security Commission (CLSC). The Commission, with the assistance of professionals who are familiar with security/anti-terror measures, will distribute relevant information to Shluchim, as well as make recommendations which can be adapted and implemented locally by Shluchim.

Shomrim Assist in Apprehending Shoplifter, Police Let Her Go – Again

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — She is a familiar face, she shoplifted from another store just a few days before and on Thursday she was at it again. As she fled the store the theft deterrent alarm went off.

The Divine Is In The Details – What Does An Infinite G-d Have With A Finite World?

Rabbi Yossi Kahanov Shliach to Jacksonville, FL

Once, on Rosh Hashanah, the Alter Rebbe Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, asked his son the Miteler Rebbe to share some of the thoughts upon which he had concentrated during his Davening-prayers earlier that day.

The Mitlerer Rebbe proceeded to enumerate the various liturgical passages and Kabalistic intentions upon which he had reflected. The Miteler Rebbe then inquired of the Alter Rebbe regarding his own meditations.

Instead of the profound and lofty response for which the Miteler Rebbe was prepared, the Alter Rebbe indicated that his thoughts were focused upon his “chair and Shtender-lectern,” (a reference to the presence of the Divine within the physical).

The Rebbe of Pscizcha once turned to one of his young disciples, who was later to become the Rebbe of Kotzk, and presented the following query: “Young man, where can one find G d?” “G-d is everywhere,” replied the young scholar. “Does not His glory fill the universe?”

“Young man,” persisted the Pscizcher, “I asked you where one could find G d?” The Kotzker was quiet. “Well, if I don’t know then please tell me,” he requested.

The Pscizcher then said, “Listen, young man, “G d can be found wherever he is allowed in.”
