One store employee grabbed a phone and called 911 and Shomrim. The employee, a bochur his 20’s, then began following the thief down Kingston. He had the police on the phone and was telling them where she was going. At one point he asked police if he should stop her, however they told him not to. Saying that the police will be there in a just a moment.

He followed the woman into a building on Empire and Kingston. And up to the floor where she lives and watched as she entered her apartment. She emerged shortly after and the bizarre pursuit continued. During the entire time the pharmacy employee was following her, he kept asking her to return the items.

Shomrim intercepted her at the intersection of Lefferts and Lamont. Asking her to wait so police can resolve the matter, and she complied.

Police officers finally arrived at the scene a short while later. After speaking to the store employee, they searched the woman, but did not find any of the stolen items on her. The employee told police that she stopped at her apartment and most defiantly offloaded the stuff there. However the police wouldn’t hear of it and just to let her go.

One of the Shomrim members explained to police; there is surveillance in the store that clearly shows her stealing. But the police didn’t want to bother themselves with investigating the footage and said, since she didn’t have the stolen item in her possession, they wouldn’t arrest her.

  • IN DISBELIEF!

Peoples can we stick to the point…he/she doesn’t matter! What DOES matter is the fact that this is the 4th or 5th story over the past little while that ended in the cops letting people of African American descent, who have broken the law in one way or another go!!!WHAT THE BEEP IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS?????? WHERE IS OUR COMMUNITY COUNCIL??? WHERE IS JUSTICE???(or does only the number of tickets given out in CH make any difference to the police force/)

  • The Klondike Cops

The police can’t be THAT stupid. Their feigned stupidity is obviously being done intentionally because for them to have arrested her would haven taken too much time away from their patrolling the sidewalks for bicycle riders.

  • FRAN

Bloomberg, get in there and press the button, find out who those cops are and get rid of them ASAP

Are the cops obeying the law?

fellow chers, this is absurd, a derogatery case, we must do something about it, but do you know: WHEN YOU SWEAR YOU ARE AS BAD AS THEM!?!? YOU ARE STOOPING DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not surprising

  • a neighborhood reside4nt

typical. Next time hold the thief he or she in the store then if the police refuse to arrest you have a fantastic case of discrimination civil rights etc.etc.

  • Always Around

She can still be arrested. Go into the precinct to file a complaint and make sure they put in the story that there is video evidence, you can identify the perp., you know where she lives, and the only time you lost sight of her is when she was in the apt. Just have a witness ready to testify sometime down the road for the DA if the perp pleads not guilty.
