It is with sadness and deep pain we inform you of the tragic and extremely untimely passing of a young Shliach, Meir Shlomo (Shloima’le) Zaltzman OBM, at the mere age of 7-months-old, son of Rabbi Mendel and Chanie (nee Matusof) Zaltzman who are the directors of the JRCC of Yonge & Clark in Toronto, Canada.
Shloima’le is the grandchild of Rabbi Yoseph Y. and Chiena Zaltzman, who are the directors of the Jewish Russian Community Center of Toronto.

A virtual audience of over 500 attended the new series of Shiurim with Rabbi Chaim Miller on his upcoming new Sefer on Rambam and Prophecy. The Shiur is a joint project with Oihel Nosson and CrownHeights.info.

CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — Lubavicher Yeshiva students showed off their talent this evening in a spectacular exhibition on “what can I do to bring Moshiach now?”
Tens of students drew posters, built projects, created slideshows and even performed live shows all on this theme. The EXPO is part of a 6 week long campaign on “what can I do to bring Moshiach now?” in which students need to collect coupons on this same theme. The coupons, or at least some of them, have letters of a special message that the students need to put together, other coupons have surprises such as free drinks and Ices.

Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations are suspended on Monday, May 25 for the observance of Memorial Day. Because Memorial Day is a major legal holiday, parking meter regulations are also suspended. Let me begin by saying that I have no doubt as to the sincere motivation of all who are serving in community posts today. That includes the rabbonim as well as the netzigim, gabboyim and vaad hakohol, Shomrim and Shmira etc.
However, something is just not working in Crown Heights. I have not lived there in some time, but even when I left, the beauty and kedusha of Kan Tziva Hashem es haBrocho, of the Rebbe’s Dalet Amos, was obscured by physical decline that mirrored the societal and spiritual decline which is sadly gaining a greater and greater foothold in Crown Heights.
We are beset by problems of children going off the derech, of adults who are barely hanging on physically as well as spiritually, of rising crime, and of a general atmosphere of decline. Then there is the problem of tznius which deserves separate mention, though sadly it is a problem throughout Chabad and not only in Crown Heights.
To mark Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky’s 60th birthday today, Rosh Chodesh Sivan, JLI published “Yalkut Yoma Tava L’Rabanan”, a 72-page compilation of Torah sources on the significance of reaching 60 years.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Starting as caterpillars the students of Morah’s Dini Rapaport and Tziril Baitch’s kindergarten, fed them till they cocooned and hatched as butterflies. The students then released them last week.
CHI Edit: The three Yeshivas: Magen David Yeshiva, located on McDonald Ave and Ave S, Mesores Bais Yaakov, located on Ocean Ave and Ave I, and Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel, located at 1271 East 31st St. Many more Yeshivos are soon to follow.
BROOKLYN, NY [JTA] — A Flatbush yeshiva has been closed after two students were diagnosed with swine flu.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A large attendance marked the second Shiur on Tznius for men, following the large success of its first one. The Shiur was once again arranged by Yagdil Torah and delivered by Rabbi Aharon Dovid Gancz, and there was an extended question and Answer Session. CrownHeights.info was on hand and has published a recording of the Shiur for those that could not attend.
We would like to wish Mazal Tov to Levi Yitzchok and Chana Mondshine (Shluchim to Smolensk, Russia) on the birth of their son.
May the newborn be a source of Nachas to his parents, grandparents and Klal Yisroel.
