Sholom Rubashkin’s Trial Starts Tuesday

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA — The former manager of Postville’s kosher meat plant goes on trial this week to face allegations that he cheated a bank, laundered more than $1 million, concealed months of fraud and failed to pay livestock providers on time.

Sholom Rubashkin will confront 91 fraud-related charges Tuesday in a trial that could effectively send him to prison for the rest of his life. The former executive at Agriprocessors Inc. will step into a Sioux Falls, S.D., federal courtroom with his wife, Leah, and their children for a legal struggle that could last four to six weeks.

A Yom Tefillah and rally was arranged by the committee of Pidyon Shevuyim for a miraculous victory for Sholom Mordechai Rubaskin. They arranged a rally at the Ohel on Monday October 12th, Isru Chag, the day before the court case. Buses will 770 at 2:30pm and will return at 5:00pm for children 5 to 12. $3 bus fare.

Hate Crimes Up in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — Residents in Windsor Terrace are up in arms after a pair of thugs pelted a house with eggs and rocks while shouting anti-Semitic slurs this week, witnesses said.

The alleged bias incident, which took place early Tuesday on Prospect Ave., is the second such crime to rattle the neighborhood in recent weeks – and comes on the heels of other high-profile anti-Semitic incidents across the borough.
