On Wednesday December 16th 2009, in honor of the sixth night of Chanukah, over 300 people got together at the Seymour J. Abrams Cheder Lubavitch Hebrew Day School in Chicago for a very special event: The lighting of the World’s Largest Toy Menorah! Rabbi Avraham Varnai and his fourth grade class wanted to help children that are ill to experience the joy of Chanukah. They started collecting brand new toys and built a beautiful menorah.
The students of Cheder at the Ohel were all tingling with excitement throughout the recent Chanukah event held for their families during Chanukah at Cheder Tzeirei HaShluchim. Shouts of “pick me, pick me” were heard as the fascinating magician showed them all types of mystifying tricks. They tried to figure out how he did them and what he was going to do next. The parents loved watching their children’s enthusiasm. Great fun was had by all.
