It sounds like a simple approach to this country's illegal immigration problems: Crack down on businesses that employ undocumented workers.

But it's not so simple. Just consider the jury's verdict of “not guilty” for Sholom Rubashkin. The former Agriprocessors Inc. executive had been charged with scores of child labor violations and was acquitted on all of them. The Iowa Attorney General's Office alleged Rubashkin knew there were many children working in the Postville slaughterhouse prior to the 2008 federal immigration raid - but that he did nothing to put a stop to it.

Hundreds Gather in Display of Unity

Hundreds of Manhattan’s Upper East Sider’s gathered together this past week for a unique Shabbat experience honouring ten wounded Israeli soldiers. The soldiers were here as part of a ten day trip organized and hosted by Chabad Israel Center of the Upper East Side, led by Rabbi Uriel and Shevy Vigler, together with Chabad Terror Victims Project. Not a dry eye was to be found in the room during the Friday night meal as each veteran shared his personal story of battle and injury.

In the first post election meeting members of each side sat down with Rabbi Avrohom Rosenberg in the offices of the Vaad Hakohol to discuss the elections and its outcome. Members of the ‘Achdus Team’, who were the ones to call for the meeting, gave various suggestions from remaining in office throughout the summer, to calling for new elections, and even refusing to work with individual Vaad members.

His relative inexperience was highlighted in his humility yesterday when he met with Reb Binyomin (Yami) Lifshitz, the head of Vaad Kfar Chabad, for a two hour long meeting on Thursday evening.

Opinion: “I’m Impressed with Friday Activity for Kids”

If Crown Heights doesn’t offer everything to everyone, I did want to point out one thing that was offered to the young boys that wish to play with their friends on Friday afternoon. As the boys gear up to grow up to use this time for Mivtzoim – but until then, they get to enjoy their time playing with friends in a nice Jewish atmosphere with an older game leader. Teaching, the boys how to play together as well as deal with a call that doesn’t go their way, something some have difficulties with.
