Cape Town Chabad Night at the Stadium to Remember

On Thursday 21 October close to 250 Capetonians took to the pitch of the World Cup Stadium in Cape Town to show off their soccer prowess and enjoy a night of fine cuisine, amazing prizes and great entertainment in support of the West Coast Jewish Community, its preschool and junior primary school – the Sinai Academy, and community centre – The Shul of Blouberg – West Coast under the auspices of Chabad of the West Coast directed by Rabbi Asher and Zeesy Deren.

For years, the concluding gala banquet of the International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries has been known as the largest sit-down dinner in New York City.

An army of staffers, electricians, chefs and delivery crews are making final preparations to a Brooklyn, N.Y., museum, dozens of classrooms, and a cruise terminal in anticipation of the fast-approaching 13th-annual International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries.

Young Rabbi Returns Home to Open Chabad

Rabbi Yankel Adler, 25, left, with 6-month-old daughter Rochel Adler and wife Chanie Adler, 22, moved from Brooklyn to open a Chabad Center serving Clearwater and the surrounding areas. 

CLEARWATER, FL — Rabbi Yankel Adler grew up watching his parents reach out to the Jewish community in north Pinellas County. Now an ordained rabbi with a family of his own, it seemed natural that he should come back here and help the community grow.

Our Outlook On Death Makes All The Difference


It was a busy morning, about 8:30 an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him.

I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.
