CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A man was shot and killed this afternoon in a drive by shooting on a Crown Heights street.

The incident took place this afternoon at around 2:30pm on Midwood Street between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues, a block which has seen an influx of Jewish people taking up residence there.

The victim, a black male in his mid-20’s, was shot from a car while he was working on his car which was parked in his driveway, the bullet struck his arm and he was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Police set up a crime scene and are investigating.

According to the police there have been 5 homicides in the past year, not including today’s incident and any others in the past 2 weeks.

    @ #6: if it hit an artery, he could bleed to death internally – or actually travel in the vein doing even more damage. the e.r. doc’s might’ve thought he wasn’t so bad if they had someone else to treat who seemed worse off visually. plus, we don’t know if he had other health issues – #2’s a smoking buddy, tho.

    From only 1 ems bls bus on scene, all those useless cops standing around not even bothering to assist ems with the aided, and ems delaying transport to discuss the patients id with the cops, it seems like a whole lot of people misjudged the seriousness of the victims condition.

    I’m reading these comments and i dont see not one person saying rest in piece to the victim,he was not a smoker. so to #2 get your story straight.     to no 28 yes i knew him, he was a kind hearted person always tried to put piece within every body. and i’m mad as hell that he got killed for other people bs. im really hoping that they idiot that killed him so that his family and friends could have a peace of mind. rest in piece kenroy robert, gone but will never be forgotten! you will truly be missed!

    Kenroy was a great person who loved kids family and food. i was at his funeral this morning and he had a great turn out. The church was full of love ones paying their last respect. Kenroy wasn’t a smoker like the last person mention. He loved food, life,partying and looking good. I met him March 18,2009 and enjoyed every moment and time we shared.For all thoughs who was at the church earlier and for all though who couldn’t make it because of lack of information or communication. Keep in mind that God put people in our lives for a reason or season. Appreciate all your encounters, because good or bad they teach you something. Love you always Kenroy Robert……
