A demonstration took place on Wednesday afternoon, July 20, 2011, in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn New York, a neighborhood with a population of over 35,000 ultra Orthodox Jews. The theme of the demonstration was to boycott the Israeli food company Osem, which is known for its ongoing partnership with the Israeli “Jewish National Fund [JNF]”.

New Synagogue to Rise at Black Sea Port

Crimean city of Sevastopol, Ukraine

Boris Gelman, vice chairman of the Jewish community of Sevastopol, announced that construction of a new synagogue will soon commence in the Ukrainian Black Sea port. Chief Rabbi Binymain Wolf, a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in the region, will spearhead the project, which will be located next to the city’s Holocaust memorial.

Tonight, Thursday, Chof Tammuz, marks the 100th birthday of Reb Meir Itkin. The Itkin Family has initiated the writing of a Sefer Torah in honor of their parents Reb Meir and Sima Chasya A“H Itkin, and their brother Zalmen Itkin A”H, Shliach from Hamilton, Ontario.
