After stepping down last December from the throne that he held for 25 years and 60,000 interviews on Larry King Live, the broadcasting icon stepped back up on the air with “Larry King To Life” hosting the 31st Chabad Lechaim To Life Telethon, with celebrity guests Howie Mandel, Oscar winners John Voight and Elliot Gould, Brad Garrett, Tom Arnold and Paula Abdul, among others. It was broadcast live from Hollywood Sunday Sept 25 and reached over 45 million households worldwide, breaking the record as the most viewed Jewish holiday program of all time!

It's a brisk fall evening on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, a thoroughfare lined with kosher bakeries and restaurants. Tough it is almost midnight, many stores are still open and several blocks have been cordoned off by the police. I am in a crowd of hundreds of women angling for a glimpse of the revelers before us: A sea of men in black and white, most wearing wide-brimmed hats, spinning, beads of sweat dripping from their beards as they match the frenetic pace of the music pumping from a stage in the street. I can't help but cheer a little. The joy is infectious.

As the holidays bear down on this city, the war on faith has arrived early. The latest chapter in the religious wars takes place in TriBeCa. Community leaders there went positively postal over a request to the Parks Department by the Jewish group Chabad — to erect a sukkah in tiny Duane Park.

As some of you may know, this week is a big week for us Children of Abraham. It’s Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur, our big holidays, when even if you don’t do another Jewish thing all year, you gotta do this. We used to hate it as kids, having to go to services FOUR WHOLE TIMES in the space of about 10 days. I guess as you get older, you don’t mind so much – either because you like the ritual or because you’re getting close to your “Use By” date and you want to have all the bases covered.

Kfar Chabad resident Sara Kochava Karavani planned to spend Rosh Hashanah at home, with her family. Shortly before candle lighting on erev Rosh Hashanah she developed a sudden and strong nasal bleed. After it was apparent that it was not stopping, she went to Assaf HaRofeh Hospital in Rishon L’Tzion for treatment.
