During the holiday season, we often read inspirational stories that raise our awareness of the plight of the needy and celebrate a spirit of helping the unfortunate who have suffered from hard luck, injury and hurt.

Hundreds of men, young and old, participated in a Chinese auction Motzei Shabbos to benefit the Oholei Torah educational institute. The evening was dedicated in memory of Reb Dovid Malka OBM, who kept the bochurim in Zal and Mesivta well fed throughout the years, and Reb Moshe Abelsky OBM, beloved bus driver for the elementary school over two decades.

The annual Hanukkah reception timeline at the White House does not change much each year. Usually, there is some unique Menorah, brought especially for the festive occasion (this time, a Menorah made in a displaced persons’ camp after World War II, was lent by The Jewish Museum in New York), a mix of Jewish lawmakers, officials, rabbis, activists and donors, president’s remarks, music and good food.
