In a departure from his routine on-screen performances, renowned filmmaker, actor and comedian Mendy Pellin took to the stage in person at the Millenium Theater in Brighton Beach to dish up some Pesach laughs to the eager crowd. Police Vehicle Knocks Down Traffic Pole, 1 Injured

Crown Heights [CHI] — At around 12:30 today a major collision occurred at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Albany Ave. An NYPD ESU (canine unit) vehicle was reportedly following another vehicle, when the driver lost control and slammed right into a traffic signal pole. The force of the collision ripped the pole up from its foundation and knocked it over.

Convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Jay Pollard has been hospitalized at a prison medical center in Butner, N.C., since April 4, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons said Monday. A lawyer for Pollard, 57, said that for over a year his client has suffered from increasingly debilitating and incapacitating medical problems that have resulted in emergency surgeries and other emergency medical procedures.

Bill Would Give Russian Art Immunity from Seizure

Russia banned art loans to the United States after a federal court ruled that a historic collection of books and writings belongs not to Russia but to the U.S.-based Hasidic group, Chabad, and must be returned.

For more than a year, Russia has prohibited its government-run museums from sending artworks to exhibitions in the United States. The ban has frustrated and puzzled American museum officials, because it was spurred by a legal decision unrelated to anything the museums themselves have done. Diplomacy has failed to lift it.

This came about as a result of his stamp business, which frequently took him abroad doing business with governments and private collectors.
