A robbery in Greenwich, Connecticut prompted a large and rapid response from local police. Rabbi Yossi Deren was driving in the area shortly after the incident in a car similar to the one driven by the suspects, when he was pulled over by police officers.
A second Crown Heights building, located on the corner of Brooklyn Ave. and Sterling St., was hit by lightning this morning, causing bricks from the buildings roof. Fortunately, the building’s lightning rods intercepted the strike and conducted it safely into the ground, preventing another devastating fire.
During a brief thunderstorm this morning, lightning struck a 7-story building on New York Ave. between Winthrop and Hawthorne St., setting it ablaze. The smoke is blowing across the Crown Heights neighborhood as firefighters continue to try and bring the raging inferno under control.
Shots were fired near the corner of Eastern Parkway and New York Ave. last night. There were no reported injuries. Police responded to the scene and took an African-American male into custody.
