Two Men Shot – 1 Dead – in Crown Heights Last Night

25-year-old Martin Thomas was shot and killed in Crown Heights last night. The shooting took place on St. Johns Place near Schenectady Ave. shortly after 7:30pm. Another victim, a 24-year-old man, was shot in the right leg.

Both men were taken to Kings County Hospital, where Thomas died. The other victim, whose identity was not released, was stable. Sources say he is not cooperating with police in their investigation.

It was unclear what sparked the shooting, and no arrests have been made.

Thomas has had run-ins with the law before. He had been arrested 18 times since 2000, police said, for charges like robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and trespassing.

  • 13 yr old

So sad, he was first arrested when he was 13 then arrested on average every year and a half.

RIP. A little math: from 13 years old until 25 years old (12 years) Thomas was arrested 18 times, or 1.5 times a year. I’m willing to bet he didn’t know his daddy. Dear Black community: wake up! your children are dying because you don’t have family values. they deserve better.

Att: Mr. mayor why are you not seeing that are streets are safe for us law abiding citizins instead of having all those news conferences. You know it is not the guns that the law abiding citizens have that is the issue–it is the fact that the criminal element has them and uses them.

  • #8 You worry about the criminals.

Let the rest of us keep our concern for the victims and public safety.

Well, another victim of a “gun-free” city. Gun control really works well, yeah right. As for the other shooting victim, maybe if he and others like him cooperated with the police, there would be less murders. “No snitching” does not work.

ALL OF YOU WHO WRITE COMMENTS SHOULD SHUT THE HELL UP AND BY THE WAY HE DID HAVE A FATHER A WONDREFUL WORKING HARD MAN WHO TAKES CARE OF HIS FAMILY JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A OPOLICE RECORD THAT VDOED NOT MAKE YOU A BAD PERSON COPS ARE NO SAINTS EITHER THEY COMMENT CRIMES WHY NOT TALK ABOUT THAT

  • FAMILY

Thomas Martin was a father, a son, a brother, etc. to people who loved him very much. It is sad how the media depicts this young man as a criminal and take away from the fact that he was murdered in the streets of brooklyn. No matter what he has done in his past it should not take away from the crime that was commiteed against him.. So for those who make comments like that was“good” please remember that this could one day be one of your family memebers. And yes he does have a father and mother in his life who love him very much and are heart broken at the loss of their child. So please everyone be mindful of what you say about people that you don’t know and don’t now about their situation.
Thomas will be truly missed by all!!!!!

You people know absolutely NOTHING about my brother. For the record, we grew up with both of our Parents in ONE household. People get caught up. Who are you to glorify the slaying of another human being? The anger in me wishes for the same to happen to you. However, the good in me will simply pray for your troubled mind, heart, body and soul. May God continue to guide the fools!
