A Minnesota filmmaker sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in the Iowa Film Office scandal was denied an appeal of her sentence Wednesday by the Iowa Court of Appeals.

In four days since the inception of Chabad’s Hurricane Relief Fund by Merkos, $70,000 has been raised and allocated. “The needs are much more severe than we imagined. Mosdos have been seriously damaged, many Shluchim homes were hit hard by the storm and communities need vital services,” said Rabbi Mendel Sharfstein of Chabad Headquarters.

For many years now, the Kupas Bochurim of the Yeshiva in 770 has been distributing hats, jackets and coats to the hundreds of students, most of whom come from Israel and lack suitable winter attire. This distribution has been funded by Sholom Ber Drizin of Crown Heights.
