With Yud Alef Nissan, the day which will mark the 111th birthday of our Rebbe, just over a month away the Jewish community in Montreal has taken it upon themselves to prepare by studying the entire Lekutei Sichos.
Dr. Bernd Wollschlaeger shares his story about the journey from his father’s house of deceit and hatred to the ranks of the Jewish people. Horrified by his father’s part in the effort to rid the world of Jews, Bernd found himself drawn to Jews, Holocaust survivors who did not hold him responsible and related to him with kindness and friendship. He eventually came to the realization that he wanted to join the Jewish nation.

He’s the good looking, buoyant 12 year old Nepalese boy who greets visitors to Katmandu’s Chabad House with a huge smile: “Hi I’m Bim, the boy from Beit Chabad,” he offers. The question presented at the Hadas Gallery at the Rohr Jewish Center serving Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., was “What is Jewish Art?” Since it was an artists’ talk, a diverse palette was to be expected. The answers, of course, ran the gamut of Jewish art history, style and perspective.
