A Lag Ba’omer bonfire and celebration took place for the 29th year on Empire Boulevard in the backyard of the Horowitz family. Together, Rabbi Sholom Horowitz and Rabbi Nachman Twerskei held their annual ‘Hadlokoh’ of a Bonfire in honor of Reb Shimon Bar Yochai.

Assistant Chief Thomas Chan, the current commanding officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South, was promoted today to serve as the new chief of the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau. Replacing him will be Assistant Chief Owen J. Monaghan, coming from the Transit Bureau where he served as the executive officer.
