About six months ago, Mrs. Rashi Minkowicz’s aunt Mrs. Shaindy Lieberman, Shlucha to Fort Lauderdale, FL, passed away at the age of 59. It happened a few days before the Yahrtzeit of Rashi’s grandmother and namesake, Mrs. Rashi Gansbourg, who also passed away at the young age of 37.

The letters are from the archives of Rabbi Nissan Mindel, OBM, personal secretary to the Previous Rebbe and the Rebbe, and were made available by his son-in-law, Rabbi Sholom Ber Schapiro.

On Taanis Esther one of the customs of the day is to give Machtzis Hashekel before Mincha. In 770 there were many choices, including coins the Rebbe used and coins that the Frierdiker Rebbe had given for this very purpose.
