Bill Clinton Lauds Chabad School at New York Gala

More than 1,000 people turned out Thursday night to hear former President Bill Clinton at a fundraiser for the Philip Berley Preschool of the Arts, a school run by the Chabad Center for Jewish Discovery, with five locations in Lower Manhattan that combines a solid foundation in both Judaism and the arts.

Pop-Up Mall Comes to CH in Honor of Shluchos

The boutique Lullaby Baby store in Park Slope will offer huge discounts for Shluchos and to the Crown Heights community. Teenage Girl Shot 3 Times on Maple and Kingston

In the second shooting incident in as many days, a 19-year-old African-American girl was shot three times near the entrance to her apartment building on Maple Street and Kingston Ave. She was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition. Police are investigating if this incident is related to the one that occurred in the same spot three days ago, when a Jewish man was robbed and shot by a thug wearing a ‘keffiyeh.’

Letter & Spirit: Chassidim and the Outside World

In this week’s edition of Letter & Spirit, in honor of Chof Beis Shvat and the Kinus Hashluchos, we present a letter from the Rebbe in which he gives an explanation for ‘why Chassidim participate in the outside world’ – by way of saluting the Shluchos who devote their lives to working with the world to improve it. The letter was written through the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel, and was made available by the latter’s son-in-law, Rabbi Sholom Ber Shapiro.
