Many Jewish residents of Moscow, Russia gathered this evening in front of the Kremlin walls for a Menorah lighting ceremony marking the first night of Chanukah. Standing alongside Rabbi Berel Lazar the Chief Rabbi of Russia, was the Israeli Chief Rabbi Dovid Lau.

“Chanukah Live”: an unprecedented effort in sharing the light of Chanukah with the world. Bringing together different continents to celebrate as one, this was technologically speaking, a monumental undertaking at the time. A group of resourceful Chassidim brought the idea to the Rebbe and received his enthusiastic blessing.
