Startup Pioneer Killed in Tel Aviv Was a Friend to All

Three people in Tel Aviv were killed and two injured last Saturday night when a driver from Ra’anana, in central Israel, lost control of his car and careened into a street-side restaurant. The accident, likely due to a heart attack, wound up killing the car’s driver, as well as Menashe Raz of Ashdod, who was standing on the sidewalk; and Alan Weinkrantz, 63, a public-relations maven and consultant for tech start-ups.

The Rabbinical College of Australia and New Zealand (Yeshivah Gedolah-Melbourne) hosted a communal Kinus Torah on Sunday, the thirteenth of Sivan. The Kinus was convened in conjunction with Shavuos, as per the Rebbe’s directive that a Kinus be held on, or immediately after, each Yom Tov.

Cloudy skies couldn’t put a damper on the early-evening ribbon-cutting and building dedication of the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Jewish Life-Lubavitch House at the University of Pennsylvania. Lipa, who has broken with his New Square Orthodox community in supporting the State of Israel, recorded a minute-long Pepsi Max commercial blending Israeli culture with his own Yiddish roots that was published online Monday.
