Some 180 people turned out to watch the lighting of the first candle on the Chabad Menorah, which is supported by Harrow Council.

A rocking concert kicked off Chanukah for hundreds of Brooklynites at Grand Army Plaza. Latkes and jelly doughnuts were distributed along with Menorah kits for those who didn’t have. Meanwhile Brooklyn’s Boro President joined in the fray of “whose Menorah is bigger?”

Menorah Lit at the Eiffel Tower
Just weeks after terrorists murdered 130 people on the streets of Paris, an estimated 6,000 people gathered tonight at the Eiffel Tower to watch the lighting of a 30-foot-tall menorah on the first night of Chanukah. The annual public menorah-lighting at the base of the iconic Eiffel Tower—a decades-old French tradition—is organized annually by Chabad-Lubavitch.

After Mincha, the first light of Chanukah was lit in the Rebbe’s Room by Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam. The lighting was broadcasted around the world through the Chanukah Live hookup.
Lighting the First Candle at the Kremlin Walls
Many Jewish residents of Moscow, Russia gathered this evening in front of the Kremlin walls for a Menorah lighting ceremony marking the first night of Chanukah. Standing alongside Rabbi Berel Lazar the Chief Rabbi of Russia, was the Israeli Chief Rabbi Dovid Lau.
2:15pm: Chanukah Live, Paris-Jerusalem-New York
In the face of terror, a massive menorah lighting will take place on the Eiffel Tower plaza in Paris, France. This will be the kickoff lighting event for this years Chanukah Live, which will link up menorah lightings in three major cities on three continents. This French program, filled with music and song, is based out of Paris, and will hook-up with menorah lightings in Israel and New York.
