Council Agrees to Larger Event After 1st Candle Lighting
Some 180 people turned out to watch the lighting of the first candle on the Chabad Menorah, which is supported by Harrow Council.
Rabbi Mendel Lew introduced the speakers who included Member of Parliament Mr. Bob Blackman MP, Councilor Marylin Ashton and the Mayor of Harrow The Worshipful The Mayor, Councilor Krishna Suresh. Alderman Richard Romain was also in attendance.
The Menorah was lit by Rabbi Leivi Sudak, which was followed by hot soup, latkes and of course doughnuts, all of which was greatly appreciated by the attendees, particularly the Police and CST who provided security. LED Menorahs and Menorah kits were also distributed.
Following the successful lighting, the Harrow Council has now agreed to a larger Menorah and an even grander event in the future.
