Perhaps one of the most difficult mitzvahs to fulfill properly is the counting of the Omer, which requires that each sequential day be counted (after nightfall) without missing a day—from the second night of Passover all the way until the eve of Shavuot. In addition to remembering to count on each of 49 consecutive nights, the counter needs to verbalize that night’s count and the corresponding Kabbalistic formula—all that before daybreak, or at least, before sunset the following evening.
Thousands Protest the Death of Man Wielding Torch Pipe
Thousands marched in Crown Heights to protest of the death of Saheed Vassell, a man with a mental illness who was shot by police while brandishing a pipe resembling a gun, while many residents and neighbors of the man agreed with the NYPD’s actions in the encounter.

After having sold the Chometz before Pesach, Rabbi Moshe Bogomilsky and Rabbi Shimon Hecht got together with Winston, the gentile who purchased the Chometz, and bought back the Chometz.

Acharon Shel Pesach is particularly associated with Moshiach and the future redemption. The Baal Shem Tov instituted the custom of partaking of a “Seudas Moshiach” on the afternoon of the last day of Passover; in addition to the Matzah eaten at “Seudas Moshiach”, the Rebbes of Chabad added the custom of drinking four cups of wine, as in the Seder held on Passover’s first days.
Community on Edge over Planned Protests following Fatal Police Shooting
Planned protests following the death of an emotionally disturbed man has the Jewish community in Crown Heights on edge, and police beefing up their presence in an effort to head off any unrest. Video of the man menacing a number of people, with what appears to be a firearm, moments before he was shot was released by police.
