Weekly Letter: Answering Critics of Lubavitch

When a woman wrote to the Rebbe about critics of the Lubavitch, he responded with what we should answer those critics of sacrificing one’s own Torah learning and advancement to help bring another Jew closer to Yiddishkeit. The letter, written originally in English, is from the archives of the Rebbe’s trusted secretary Rabbi Nissan Mindel.

Here’s My Story: Who Is A Chassid?

After earning a Ph. D. in biological sciences and studying medicine at Oxford, Dr. David Weiss was appointed assistant professor in the Department of Immunology and Bacteriology at the University of California in Berkley. When he took up this post in 1957, he moved with his family to the San Francisco area. While there, he befriended Rabbi Shlomo Cunin, who was the Rebbe’s emissary to California, and believes that it was Rabbi Cunin who brought him to the Rebbe’s attention.

New Torah Project Launched in Moscow

A new Torah learning initiative was started in the Central Marina Roscha Shul. “Yeshiva Hour” brings together community members, Anash, Shluchim, and the students of all four Chabad Yeshivos of Moscow, as well as the the city’s Jewish University students for three hours of learning together.
