With great sadness we report the untimely passing of Rabbi Chaim Levi Yizchok Ginsberg OBM, a beloved Mashpia in Israeli Yeshivos who was devoted to the Rebbe’s mivtzoim. He passed away on Friday, the 16th of Tammuz, 5779.

The Crown Heights Beis Din, in an incredible move, has signed on to a unity deal to put aside its years long split, creating a united Beis Din. The deal, signed by all members of the Beis Din, ends a feud that has split the entire community.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Friday it had seized a British oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the semiofficial Iranian Fars news agency, the British oil tanker Stena Impero and its crew members were seized for violating “international maritime rules and regulations in the Persian Gulf.” Subsequent reports indicated that a second British tanker had been seized as well. The British-operated, Liberian-flagged Mesdar, turned sharply north towards Iran’s coast after passing westward through the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf, according to Refinitiv tracking data.

Zvi Hirsch (Georgiy) Logvinsky, a Jew who serves as a member of parliament in the Ukraine, was seen handing out chocolate bars to the children of Kfar Chabad, together with the chairman of the village committee, Rabbi Shimon Rabinowitz, while on a visit to Israel. It turns out that a particularly moving story was the motivation for Logvinsky’s distribution of chocolate bars, which was published by the Kfar Chabad weekly.

Last week, Chabad’s Or Avner school in Baku was ranked by the State Examination Center (SEC) among the top twenty schools in Azerbaijan. The annual assessment is based on pedagogical and educational criteria established by the SEC and pronounced the Jewish school (K-12) one of the best for quality of education among all the schools in the Muslim-majority country.
