With great sadness we report the passing of R’ Chaim Meir Rosenberg OBM, a longtime member of the Crown Heights community. He passed away just before Shabbos, on the 12th of Tishrei 5780.

Jewish Man Slapped in Hateful and Unprovoked Attack in Crown Heights
Around 12:30pm Saturday, as a Jewish man was walking on New York Ave through the crosswalk on Union Street, a a male black riding his bike on Union street crossed in front of him. As the man drove by he, slapped the Jewish male in the face and stated “You dirty Jew.” The NYPD will be investigating the incident as a Hate Crime.

Early Morning Shooting At Illegal Crown Heights Gambling Den, Four Dead
Four Brooklyn gamblers drew a dead man’s hand early Saturday when an enraged fellow card player opened fire inside an illegal Brooklyn gambling den just before sunrise. A suspect was taken in to custody by the police.

Jewish Woman Stabbed to Death in South Africa
Dr. Mirah Wilks, a psychologist who moved to Australia from Israel as a young girl and who lived in South Africa in recent years, was stabbed to death in her home. According to reports, Wilks was ambushed and attacked by a gang of armed robbers who had waited until her husband Frank left to worship at the local synagogue, leaving her home alone.

A dispute over a parking spot in Crown Heights resulted in one person arrested and left another with injuries Thursday night. Shomrim, Hatzalah and the NYPD all responded to the incident.

Buildings Departments Evicts Over 100 Guests From President St Home
Over 100 guests squeezed into a President St home were evicted by city officials Monday afternoon. The eviction stemmed from a complaint made to the Department of Buildings claiming that about 50 underage people had taken up residence. Both the Department of Buildings and the Fire Department were on hand as the guests were evicted.

A young child is in critical condition after being viciously attacked by a homeless man in Queens. The attack happened at around 5:00pm in the Kew Gardens section of Queens. Sources say that the suspect approuched the victim, picked him up and slammed his head into the concrete.
