Rabbi Sholom Schmerling and his wife Rivka started the Chabad of Venice & North Port, FL, with a handful of people in their living room in 2005. On Sunday, they will break ground on a new 11,000-square-foot synagogue complex on a 4.2-acre campus.

Man Shoots at Mother and Child; Gun Jams

Police are looking for a man who attempted to shoot a woman in a Crown Heights apartment building while she was holding her 7-year-old son. Thankfully, the gun jammed, and the intended victims were able to escape into an apartment.

1 Dead, 5 Hurt in 3 Seperate Terror Attacks

Three Israelis were wounded, at least two of them critically, in separate shooting and stabbing terror attacks that occurred within minutes of each other in Jerusalem and Petah Tikva, respectively. Later in the day, a third terror attack occurred in central Jaffa, with the stabbing of at least three Israelis, one of whom died while being treated at the hospital.
