Picture of the Day: A Shliach’s Birthday Gift

In honor of Rabbi Avrohom  Baruch Itkin‘s 30th birthday, his wife wanted to give him a true Shliach’s birthday gift – having 30 men come to the Tuesday morning Minyan and put on Tefillin. In true Lubavitch style, especially when you have a Shlucha working on things, over forty men arrived at Chabad-Lubavitch of Greene County in Kingston, NY this morning to put on Tefilin – one of them for the first time in his life!

Utah Rabbi Awarded for Work With At-Risk Kids

Rabbi Benny Zippel opened his email a few months ago to find that he had been selected to receive an award from the Utah National Guard. So on June 11, he and his wife, Sharonne—co-directors of Chabad Lubavitch of Utah—joined seven other honorees and supporters at a black-tie event at the Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City. There, they were recognized as part of the 53rd Annual Bronze Minuteman Awards.

Rabbi Col. Jacob Goldstein has served as Chairman of Brooklyn’s Community Board 9, which roughly correlates with the southern portion of Crown Heights and the neighborhood of Lefferts Gardens, for over three decades. His position there has long been seen as a way to placate the Crown Heights Jewish community, which has always been underrepresented on the board relative to their overall population in the district.
