Baltimore Celebrates 12 Tammuz Amid Blackout

Yud Beis Tammuz is the Yom Tov that celebrates the persistent determination over challenges and hardships that the Frierdiker Rebbe displayed. Well, that’s how the Yom Tov was marked and observed this year in Baltimore, Maryland in the aftermath of a major storm that knocked out power to over 500,000 homes throughout the city.

Chabad educators will convene next week at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Danbury, CT for 48 hours of total immersion in Chinuch. Much of the program will deal with the same issues that nearly 200 Chabad Mechanchos dealt with during their conference last week at the DOLCE center, in Norwalk. In addition, the Kinus will concentrate on the need to foster the development of children’s healthy self-image and worth within a turbulent world, an issue which is reflective of the realities Mechanchim deal with daily.

Homicide detectives are investigating the mysterious death of an Orthodox Jewish man who begged for money outside synagogues, even though his massive collection of vintage TV photos was said to be worth millions of dollars.

Today: Last Day to View Melamed Exhibit

The exhibit of photos taken by 770 photographer Yossi Melamed, located on the corner of Albany Ave. and Union St., will be open for the last day today (Sunday, 18 Tammuz), after remaining open for an extra week due to popular demand.
