Goodness and Kindness Throughout Montreal

In honor of Gimmel Tammuz this year, bus shelter panels throughout the city of Montreal, Canada have been adorned with the Rebbe’s’ picture and message “Let’s welcome Moshiach with acts of goodness and kindness.”

Although in mostly English speaking areas, local law requires that the text be in French. Yet most people in Montreal have a basic knowledge of French.

Alongside Reb Sinai Weinbaum of Weinbaum Pharmaceutical – the chief sponsor of the campaign –many members of the Montreal Lubavitch community participated in financing this endeavor.

“The reaction of the city has so far been positive,” said Rabbi Zushe Silberstein, who initiated the project; “the general expression was that “it’s heartwarming to see the Rebbe and his message for goodness and kindness.”

Many of these posters will stay up for several months.

    But it would be nicer if you used a color Picture of the Rebbe a”h

  • Is this what the Rebbe wants?

    Is this what the Rebbe wants? Couldn’t the money have been used for better things?

  • Concerned Chossid

    I don’t recall the Rebbe giving a directive like this.
    What is a “Fremde” person supposed to get from this?

    Its wonderful.

    I love the BH on top!

    ah emeser chosid soteh.

  • Realist

    People donate money to Chabad, expecting it to be used to be mekarev people. It’s very nice that Montrealers get exposed to the Rebbe’s picture – and this too is a good thing – but could the money not have been better spent? How many children – Anash or otherwise – could have been sent to camp with that money? How many mezuzos could have been checked and bought with that money? How many Jewish school scholarships could have been provided with that money?
    Furthermore, loosely translated into English, the sign reads: Welcome Moshiach with acts of good deeds. More ‘Coca-Cola’ Lubavitch??! Do you really believe that anybody is going to take anything from these signs and messages??
    Who is in charge of how this money is spent?? Donors really have to make sure where their money goes before they donate. Otherwise, it could be wasted on photo ops like the one above. Big shame and waste of money!

  • chillul hashem

    this is not what the rebbe wants-use yhe money to promote tora and mitzvos and not your own agenda.in a city like montreal, it is a chillul shem lubavitch

  • So Nice for our Children

    So nice ! this way instead of seeing stupid things we get to see a picture of the Rebbe ! and about the money, I think he got a good deal.

  • Shame On All Of You

    Shame on all of you sitting by your computer critizing a Shliach of the rebbe Doing what he can to bring Moshiach Now. What did you do to bring Moshiach now, besides for sitting on your computer writing comments (let’s hope only that).
    long Live The Rebbe Our King!!!!

  • Get real

    To # 13:
    a) You also had to be sitting by a computer “writing comments” to get YOUR idea across, thank you very much;
    b) and what else were YOU doing by YOUR computer?
    c) Sorry to burst your bubble fantasy, but Shluchim are not perfect and they are not beyond reproach. To think otherwise is to be living in la-la land;
    d) criticizing a Shliach does not give you any right to be choyshed bichshayrim and be moytzee shaym rah others; and finally
    d) posting a picture of the Rebbe on a bus shelter, a picture which probably 99.99% of the population does not recognize, helps bring Moshiach exactly how please???!
    Showing a picture of the Rebbe – a tzaddik – is a great thing. But unless there is an unlimited amount of cash to spend, it is necessary to prioritize needs and decide how best to use one’s resources for the most pressing and urgent matters..
