He didn’t think anything of it until he went into the basement on Friday and noticed a number of his boxes have been stolen.

Original 12 Tribe Mosaic Series Dedicated

After much hard work the building was completed and dedicated in 2002.

30 Rabbis Sign Ban Prohibiting Passover Price Gouging

Brooklyn, NY — Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) and Mr. Alexander Rapaport of Masbia Soup Kitchen have joined forces to draft a religious ban prohibiting Passover price gouging in the Orthodox Jewish community. This decree, known as a kol koreh or a public pronouncement, is not a new phenomenon in the religious Jewish community. There is a great deal of precedent in Jewish law for rabbis to issue edicts against monopolies or other situations which are deemed spiritually reckless.

MTA Finance Committee Approves Fare Hike

NEW YORK, NY [NY1] — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority finance committee voted today to approve higher fares for subway, buses and commuter trains, two days ahead of the full board’s vote.

The agency has threatened that unless Albany lawmakers come up with a bailout plan by Wednesday, the fare hikes and service cuts will take effect.

A Second Woman’s Mikvah for CH in the Works

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Currently the only Mikvah serving the Crown Heights women has been standing since the early 1950’s and residents say has been extremely overwhelmed with the expansion and growth of Crown Heights. Now a new initiative by members of the Beis Shmuel Shul is being undertaken to build a new one.

Packed House at Birchas Hachama Halachos Shiur

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Every seat in Kolel Menachem was taken on Thursday, when more than 100 men came to review the Halachos of Birchas Hachama.

“What is the source for the mitzvah of Birchas Hachama?” was a question fielded by Maggid Shiur, Rabbi Zalman Moshe Abrahams, among other thoughtful questions.
